DESCRIPTION:
E KO MO MAI!! WELCOME!! AlohaHula NYC is a professional dance troupe specializing in Polynesian dances. We provide wholesome entertainment for various events and functions. Along with our lovely hand-crafted costumes, costume changes during the show, audience participation, live or recorded music and several different dances, we guarantee that your guest will be on their feet dancing the hula and shaking their hips to the beat of Tahitian drums. HAWAII: Hula is much more than just dance. Hula is the heartbeat of the Hawaiian people. It is an expression of history, religion and the human spirit. Hula tells a story about life in Hawaii through graceful hand movements. TAHITI: Wearing beautiful tall headdresses, grass skirts and hand tassels, the dancers perform the Otea, moving their hips to the fast, pulsating drum beats. ADDITIONAL ENTERTAINMENT: 1) FIRE KNIFE DANCER 2) HAWAIIAN MUSICIANS 3) NEW ZEALAND: Maori poi balls which are balls attached to long cords, are twirled and swung about the body to form patterns,in a lasso-like high-energy display. In some cases, flaming poi balls are used. Canoe dances are also performed to tell a story of the Maori people migrating by canoe from Polynesia to New Zealand. ********************************************************************* MORE ABOUT OUR PERFORMERS: NALU - has been seen on commercials such as, "Dove Body Wash" and "The Travel Channel" featured as a Polynesian dancer. For over 25 years, he has shared the music and culture of Hawai'i with audiences everywhere - from Atlantic City's finest casino/hotels to Carnegie Hall and - most recently - at Honolulu's historic Hawai'i Theatre as a finalist in the KINE/Aloha Festivals Falsetto Contest. Since 1987, Bill has recorded more than 200 Hawaiian songs in his recording studio. Through these recordings and his live performances, Bill has earned the respect of the living legends of Hawaiian music for preserving and spreading the tradition while moving it forward. He is a member of the Hawai'i Academy of Recording Arts (HARA). Each year, HARA presents the Hawaiian music community with the Na Hoku Hanohano Awards - the Hawaiian equivalent of the "Grammies." ********************************************************************* REVIEWS FROM CLIENTS: "Thank you for joining us and sharing your special dance and music talents at our client's event...Your group helped set the mood and kept the spirits high for the celebration. Mati(Anne)was simply amazing. She kept the crowd of almost 100 adults of all ages smiling, laughing and got many of us up and dancing! She was perfect for our event. I hope to have something where we will be able to have her again. Her dance talent was obvious in her performance. She is a well trained dancer and an exceptionally sweet young woman. She was very easy to work with and I never doubted it would be wonderful after talking with her. Thanks to everyone that helped me find her and thanks again to Mati!

The performers of Aloha Hula NYC were wonderful for the event we had. It was a children's birthday party for 3 and 5 year olds. Both the children and the parents were entertained and completely enjoyed the performance and the instruction by the performers. They were very professional and I was happy to have them at my home for the event.
I would highly recommend them for anyone looking for this type of entertainment and a luau is a great party for all ages!! Thank you Aloha Hula NYC for a great performance!!

Eleia was our dancer for our daughter's 10th birthday party. Eleia was very professional, friendly and fun with the girls. Eleia was very sweet to bring my daughter a special Hawiaain headdress for her special luha party. Eleia was great with the kids and they loved her! They didn't want to stop to take a break during their dance lesson with Eleia, they wanted to keep on dancing!
I would highly recommended Eleia to any party and would love to have her back again.

Anne (Mati) was excellent. She surpassed our expectations. She and her performance was the highlight of our dinner dance.I requested that she be modest (albeit dance, hawaiian, and she did, w/o comprising local dress)since we had a church group. Everyone was greatly satisfied. It was the best decison and investment we made. She also communicated with me esp. when her train was late so I did not have to worry about a "lost performer". She was considerate, polite, and we will definitely recommend her and invite her again.
