Hawaii Hula Company is made up of professional Hula dancers, Tahitian dancers, Fire Knife dancers and Hawaiian musicians that are born and raised here in Hawaii. Hawaiian talent that has been trained traditionally in Hawaii. Our Hula dancers understand in detail, every song, and therefore are able to express of the meaning that goes beyond the surface of the Hawaiian song into the Kaona (deeper meaning). Our Hula and Tahitian dancers as well as our Hawaiian musicians know how to convey the story of the songs, the culture of Hawaii and its people, along with the rich history in every performance. All this, done through rich vocal talent and with the graceful movements of Hula dancer hands. Our Offerings: HULA & TAHITIAN PRIVATE & GROUP LESSONS (60 minutes) Our professional Hula Dancer comes to you. We bring all costume, music, fresh flowers and lei to dress in Hula-Style. First, a little on the History of Hula, what Hula is and how it ties into the Hawaiian Culture. We then show you how to make flower rosettes to pin in your hair, Hula girl style. Next, learn the basic steps, hand motions and practice. Finally, you will learn to dance Hula to a Hawaiian song. We bring everything, You just bring a desire to learn about HULA. ADD ON A LEI MAKING WORKSHOP (add on to Hula lesson booking – 30 minutes) Add this to your Hula lesson to enhance your cultural experience. Our Hula Dancer/Lei expert comes to you. We bring all flowers needed for each participant to create a fresh flower lei. We provide complete instruction and all materials necessary. Learn about Hawaii's flowers and different uses for different flowers. Make a flower lei and a flower hair piece (rosette) to match. Wear your fragrant flower lei for the rest of your stay. HULA AND TAHITIAN DANCERS Our beautiful Hula dancers arrive in full costume with fresh flowers and leis. Dancers arrive 15-30 minutes before show start time for photo opportunity & check in with client or event coordinator. We also provide all music on CD or iPod (which ever is preferred and compatible with the sound system) should you choose to opt out of live music. We often add special touches by request during the show such as: Starting the performance with a fresh flower lei presentation/congratulations 2 lei included with every show featuring 2 or more dancers The traditional Hawaiian wedding song (Ke Kali Nei Au) Audience participation ending (the dancers will ask for volunteers and provide a lesson on stage-always good for a few laughs!). Any other special requests you may have... HAWAIIAN MUSICIANS Traditional Hawaiian music, Contemporary Hawaiian music, Island style music. Musicians can be hired with or without hula dancers. We represent a large variety award-winning musical talent. Sound system with DJ/Sound Tech. Singers Guitar players Ukulele players Drummers Upright Bass Bands FIRE DANCERS & POLYNESIAN DRUMMERS Fire Dancers can perform with pre-recorded music or live drums. 10-20 minute performance (depends upon amount of performers). Polynesian drummers available for accompaniment to Fire Knife dancers and Tahitian dancers.
