Available as a solo singer/ukulele player or as a duo.
Ukulele, singing, cajón, kalimba, and a whole lot of other unique percussion instruments... that's us- Jukebox Island! We're a fun, lively duo performing an eclectic mix of Hawaiian, Caribbean, beachy, tropical music. We cover popular, modern songs and old-time classics with a sound that is distinctly Jukebox Island.
Love hearing Iz kamakawiwo?ole sing "Somewhere over the Rainbow"? So do we. We hope to do his memory proud every time we perform it. If you love Iz, check out Jukebox Island.
What's in a name? Well, it's who we are and what we do. In addition to singing, our two main instruments are ukulele (also known as "UKE") and the cajón drum (Spanish for "BOX") Get it? ...UKEBOX. Toss in a "J" and it's JUKEBOX. (If given enough lead time to prepare, we can take song requests for your event.) We play island music so... Jukebox ISLAND.
MEET the MEMBERS
XAVIER Martin Moses, simply called "X" by all his friends, is the lead singer and ukulele player for Jukebox Island. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, X's life as a performer began when he became a member of the elite Brooklyn Youth Chorus. While in this group, X performed as a backup singer for Judy Garland at Carnegie Hall, Elton John at Radio City Music Hall, and Marc Anthony during the Miracle on 34th Street Concert at Madison Square Gardens. X also performed on the TV program, "Good Morning America." He went on to graduate from the Fame High School of Performing Arts in New York City with a Major in Vocal Music. In 2010, X graduated from the University of South Carolina where he earned a BME in Vocal Music Education with an emphasis in Performance and he was chosen as the soloist for the National Anthem during commencement ceremonies. Xavier's musical ability has taken him to Russia, China, Germany, Canada, France, England, and most recently Italy. X currently lives in Augusta, Georgia, and is the full time music teacher for Allendale Elementary School. Xavier also plays steel drums in the Pantasia Steel Band and is a professional bass-baritone for the Trinity Episcopal Cathedral Choir. When he's not performing or teaching, you can find him playing chess, reading action adventure books, or rooting for his Alma Mater.
KIMBERLY Roberts is the percussionist and backup vocalist for Jukebox Island. On stage she can be found playing four instruments at the same time, all while singing with a smile on her face. Off stage, Kimberly is accustomed to this type of multitasking, too. She is a South Carolina Artist-in-residence, certified teacher, small business owner, children's book author, composer, children's music director at Grace United Methodist, and she does voiceover work for commercials, audio books, and PSAs. Kimberly is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with both a BME in Music Education and a BM in Percussion Performance. While in college, she co-founded the Pantasia Steel Band and more than 18 years later under her direction, Pantasia is still going strong as one of the longest-running professional steel bands in the southeastern United States. As an artist-in-residence, Kimberly does extensive work with schools- teaching residency programs, making author visits, conducting teacher workshops, and performing assemblies. Kimberly and X met while she was commissioned to work with his elementary school's steel band. When Kimberly's not involved with one of her many creative endeavors or behind the scenes buried under mounds of office work, you can find her spending time with family, landscaping the backyard, or tending her organic garden.

"Xavier (of Jukebox) played solo at our wedding reception. He and Jukebox's manager (Kimberly) were super professional and assisted us with choosing the pefect music to acheive the effect we were seeking. Xavier is extremely talented and couldn't have been nicer. All of our guests raved about what a nice touch having a ukulele player was. "
