Description

Leah Jorgensen is a harpist and soprano in Houston, Texas. Along with classical, she also plays Celtic, show tunes, jazz, religious, and popular music, including pop rock and country. She performs on both pedal (classical) and folk (Celtic) harps, performs on her own harps, and will travel. She can and has performed with other musicians including vocalists, flutists, bagpipers, violinists, cellists, and others.

Leah's interest in music piqued at a very early age, thanks to her mother starting her on piano at the age of 5, and began classical harp training at the age of 9. She has performed in many orchestras including Brazos Valley Symphony, University of Houston Symphony, Houston Baptist University Orchestra, Greater Houston Youth Orchestra, Galveston Symphony, Texas Music Educator's Association Honor Choir's orchestra, North Houston Symphony, Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra, and many others. She has played under the direction of many brilliant conductors including Franz Krager and John Rutter.

Some venues she has performed in include the River Oaks Country Club, The St. Regis Hotel for both high tea and dinner, The Houstonian, The Brownstone, La Tour d'Argent, Aldo's, Hessni's, Vargo's and many others. She has been seen on the stages of Revels Houston, The Country Playhouse, the Fort Bend Theatre, the Texas Renaissance Festival, the Garden in the Heights, and McGonigel's Mucky Duck. Her claims to fame are to having the honor of performing for the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Lady Margaret Thatcher, singing back up to the great Lee Greenwood, and playing with the band, Kansas (best known for their hit, "Dust in the Wind").

Leah is a member of American Harp Society, American String Teachers Association, Scottish Harp Society, Gulf Coast Harpers, and American Federation of Musicians.
