Laura S. Byrne

Laura Smithburg Byrne is one of the regions premier harpists performing as a soloist as well as in chamber groups and as principal harpist for several of the areas finest orchestras including the Opera Company of North Carolina and the North Carolina Ballet. A graceful performer, she is known for her spirited collaborations with many of the regions finest musicians. Laura Byrne is harpist on the faculty of Duke University and UNC-Chapel Hill, and performs frequently on their faculty artist series. Laura is also a versatile performer in popular and jazz music and has performed for Broadway stars and Rock and Roll groups including the "Moody Blues", Johnny Mathis, and Bernadette Peters. Recent reviews proclaimed "Laura Byrne demonstrated her command of the harp", and "Special praise for Laura S. Byrne who added that something special, even spectacular when called for" and appreciation for "the touch of class and the ethereal atmosphere she creates".
