Description

MuZette is a husband & wife duo with over 25 years of experience. We are full-time musicians, performing on flute, cello, pennywhistle, fiddle, & global wind instruments. MuZette has toured the country from Dallas to Canada, NYC, Hawaii, upstate NY, and up & down the entire East Coast, including Florida.

Material includes classical, celtic, jazz, original & cover tunes. We can add other instruments such as guitar, vocals, violin, oboe and/or drums. We perform as a duo, trio, quartet or bigger ensemble, playing all classical, all celtic/Irish, all jazz, or any combination! We can play acoustically for smaller situations or "plug in" to cover a larger audience/room size. MuZette, the duo, is a very popular choice for weddings.

It's easy to have your special song included in your wedding! Tom Reese is an award-winning composer who can arrange your special request for the ensemble that will play at your wedding or reception. He has already done many popular songs, including "All You Need is Love," "Wind Beneath my Wings," "Ecstasy of Gold," & others. Ethnic or specialty songs are no problem!

Members of MuZette have accumulated a number of awards including 3 N.E.A. awards for work with youngsters, one Climbing Higher award, a Grammy Nomination, and 2nd place in Robert Burn's national tin whistle competition. We have performed with classical orchestras and headliners such as BJ Thomas, Ira Sullivan, Chuck Mangione, Henry Mancini, Johnny Mathis, Gloria Estefan, & recorded with Jon Anderson (lead vocalist with Yes). We've performed in Boston for the Boston-Prague New Music Festival & opened for Gaelic Storm, Grey Eye Glances, Stacy Earle, & Ritchie Blackmore's "Blackmore's Night."

We have played for all types of events, large & small, in unusual places (an engagement dinner in an open field, for one!) & all the usual places (churches, clubs, festivals, concerts, schools, retirement centers, private residences, yacht clubs, country clubs, resorts...& many more!).

"Last month my family celebrated my father's 80th birthday with a surprise party which was, in actuality, a family reunion. The musical group of choice for the event was The Reese Project. The afternoon was a huge success and this was due, in no small part, to the performance of this skillful and energetic quartet. The Reese Project (TRP) played three hours of captivating instrumental Celtic songs and Big Band tunes, perfect for our Irish-American ocotogenarian. TRP's renditions of these popular genres were refreshingly unique and vibrant without overpowering the event; 50+ guests were able to hold conversations and socialize easily as they enjoyed the music. These professional musicians also possess excellent organizational and planning skills; dealing with them was so easy! Tom Reese provided several websites which allowed me to conveniently listen to different samplings of the group's many musical genres (jazz, folk, blues, celtic, classical, funk and lots of original compositions) prior to hiring the group. Also, Tom and Laurie Haines Reese's positive attitudes, attention to detail and willingness to accomodate the client instilled a lot of confidence as I planned this important family event. It was a pleasure to work with The Reese Project. These are experienced, classically-trained musicians who get the job done with flair and fun." Monica Aguirre Phoenix, Arizona

Feedback

  • Muzette was incredible! I would highly recommend this duo at any time and will hire them again in the future. -- Sandy G, Avondale, PA, 8/22/2009
  • If it were possible to give higher scores we most definitely would. What an incredible couple Tom and Laurie are. They are consummate professionals and incredible musicians. We were thrilled to be able to offer unique musical selections for our wedding. The pieces Tom composed were lovely. I also cannot ever express enough gratitude at their willingness to arrange and incorporate Gabriel's Oboe into our service as a memorial to my grandfather. We were in tears before we walked down the aisle...it stirred the soul. I highly recommend Muzette! Thank you! -- Amy P, Catonsville, MD, 9/12/2009
  • MuZette was a delight to have as our musical performers at the wedding. They were prompt and professional and their music was lovely. We communicated easily and I appreciated their suggestions as to the music selections. Our guests enjoyed the music at the reception. Thank you to MuZette for a wonderful experience! Sherry and Bob Runco -- Sherry F, Cape May, NJ, 9/12/2009
  • Muzette did a great job playing at our wedding! They played for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner. Many of our guests commented on the music and how much they enjoyed it. They played a mixture of celtic, classical and jazz. It was very refreshing to have something a little different than the typical wedding music. My only regret is that we didn't get to hear them enough since we were off with the photographer getting pictures taken for the cocktail hour! -- Germaine B, Myersville, MD, 9/6/2009
  • Muzette played at our fourth of July wedding, and we absolutely loved them! We had guests coming up to us all day asking us where we found the musicians! They were so accommodating, and really easy to work with. The communication back and forth was excellent, and they were always available to answer questions! They showed up early for our event, and they played beautifully throughout our ceremony and reception. If we ever have another event, we will book with Muzette without question. I HIGHLY recommend them to anyone looking for musicians at their event! Thank you again for making our fourth of July wedding one that we will NEVER forget! We love you guys :) -- Melanie M, Edgemere, MD, 7/4/2009
  • Muzette was a great addition to our wedding ceremony-the music was beautiful and the guests all complimented us on it! They were on time and very helpful with planning the wedding ceremony music. Thanks Muzette! -- Jessica R, Baltimore, MD, 6/6/2009
