DESCRIPTION:
I provide instrumental guitar (and vocals if desired), including classical, semi-classical, traditional songs, Beatles tunes, etc.
(Please check my song list, especially the "wedding music" section). I am a good fit if you are planning a slightly less formal, even folksy, wedding, perhaps outside. I do not generally do top 40 covers, but I will gladly learn a particular favorite for your wedding or party.So feel free to inquire.
In a restaurant or party setting, I perform traditional folk/blues/roots acoustic music accompanied by fingerstyle guitar.(Dylan, Paul Simon,James Taylor,Jonny Cash, etc).
I also cover a number of traditional blues in the style of Mississippi John Hurt or Robert Johnson and roots music ( think Doc Watson or Merle Travis). The song list is a good representation of the material I cover. Finally, depending on the venue, I mix in some of my roughly 50 originals, ranging from story songs to humorous songs,many with a New England flavor. I provide my own sound up to 600 watts and can adapt to most situations. I make my primary living as a high school teacher, so I'm comfortable and adaptable on stage.
For Weddings For weddings, I offer instrumental pieces ranging from classical and semi-classical to more folksy traditional music for those planning a less formal ceremony.
For samples, listen to Audio Clip #1, Instrumental Guitar Samples. The sound quality is not great since I recorded them quickly to my home computer, but they illustrate my style. The "Wedding Music" section of my song list has possibilities for more romantic instrumentals and vocals. With some lead time, I can usually learn one or two particular songs and assemble a set to fit the desired mood. I also do several particular vocals, accompanied with fingerstyle guitar, which fit beautifully in or around the ceremony.
(Audio clip#9 has excerpts of two favorites; Tim Hardin's IF I WERE A CARPENTER and GIVE YOURSELF TO LOVE by Kate Wolf which is my personal choice for all time best wedding song). Again, I'll learn almost any song you have your heart set on. Post-ceremony, I can provide folk/blues entertainment/background while people mingle, eat, etc. This is my favorite part because everyone finally relaxes, and the real joy of the event begins to sink in. (A mixture of all the audio clips would be representative) If you have a specific vision, run it by me, and I'll see what we might do. I'm adaptable and pretty easy going during the confusion which often reigns on that special day.
