Ruckus in the Bearbrush Folk Band from Saint Cloud, MN

Ruckus in the Bearbrush is an Appalachian Mountain and folk band. The show consists of music and stories from clans who immigrated to the Appalachian areas of the United States. They present how the two cultures collided and impacted the mountain melodies still heard today. They play a range of Mountain, folk, Celtic, sea shanties, medleys, and Appalachian melodies. The band is a pre bluegrass era ensemble. The bulk of the Ruckus' music predates the civil war and starts as far back as the late 1600s and early 1700s. They bring in the history of the Scotch-Irish immigration movement to the mountains of the Carolinas and Tennessee and show how their music melded with the Eastern and Southern mountain cultures. They then bring in music from the civil war era and will toss in a couple post civil war from the 1940s and into the 1970s to round out the development of "folk" music. The show is well rounded and soul fulfilling, complete with stories, history, original music and traditional song. Their guitarist summers in the blue ridge mountains of Tennessee , woodwinds and autoharpist spent her entire life traveling to the Ozark mountains of Missouri and smoky mountains of Tennessee. Finally, the string master pulls it all together with everything from mountain dulcimer to fiddle tunes. All are seasoned musicians with inspiring abilities. When requested, buck dancers are available to join as well.
