Jonathan Baumgarten Flutist from Arlington, VA

Jonathan Baumgarten, flutist, is Artist-in-Residence at American University. He performs with many ensembles in the Washington D.C. area, including the National Gallery Orchestra and the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra, and has made recordings for NPR and the Discovery Channel. Mr. Baumgarten has been principal flutist of the Mexico City Philharmonic and acting co-principal flutist with the Orquesta Sinfonica de Galicia in Spain. He has appeared with New Haven Symphony, California Symphony, San Francisco Ballet Orchestra and has been substitute principal flute with the Knoxville Symphony. He has been soloist with the Old Isleworth Festival in London and with the New American Chamber Orchestra in Detroit. Jonathan Baumgarten holds a M.M. from the Juilliard School. He studied with Thomas Nyfenger on a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship and with Michel Debost and Samuel Baron. He spends summers performing with the Bear Valley Music Festival in the High Sierra of California.
