THE CHICAGO ROVERS was formed in 1998 as a trio, but often performs with a rhythm section and guest artists. They have recorded two albums, both of which have received airplay on college, public radio and commercial stations nationwide. They opened for BLACK 47 at Navy Pier and THE PUB CRAWLERS at The Abbey Pub. THE CHICAGO ROVERS are a perfect act for festivals, park, library and senior events, they combine virtuoso playing, tight harmonies and infectious good fun in a show that appeals to all ages. MICK ARCHER, the founder and leader of THE CHICAGO ROVERS, is a classically trained (American Conservatory, University of Illinois, B. A.) pianist/guitarist/singer and composer. He has established a career that has taken him across the nation and to twelve countries (was pianist in- residence at The Tokyo Westin in 2004) and encompasses blues, jazz, rock, country, folk music, and, of course, Irish music! Archer has recorded 4 albums of original material, some of which received national airplay, and worked as a session player on numerous recording projects and jingles. As an opening act, he?s worked with RAY CHARLES, JAY LENO, JOAN RIVERS, THE TOMMY DORSEY ORCHESTRA, STYX, TED NUGENT and THE DELLS, and as a sideman with THE DRIFTERS, THE PLATTERS, TITO PUENTE, SUGAR BLUE and RED HOLT. Archer also has a distinguished career as a teacher with The Old Town School of Folk Music, The Chicago Archdiocese, Chicago Public Schools, The City Colleges of Chicago, Gand Music / Northbrook, Art Reach / Palatine and his own studio in Glenview, Illinois. EDGAR GABRIEL has worked as a classical violinist under conductors such as DANIEL BARENBOIM, PIERRE BOULEZ and SIR GEORGE SOLTI. He has also toured with ANDREA BOCELLI, and won positions with The Northwest Indiana Symphony, Illinois Philharmonic and the Elgin Symphony. Gabriel has performed in numerous jazz, rock and blues venues with ROBERT PLANT, JIMMY PAGE, BURT BACHARACH, ELVIS COSTELLO and THE MOODY BLUES. He was a member of the world renown CIRQUE DU SOLEIL and worked in Las Vegas with their MYSTERE show, and toured with DRALION in 2003. Gabriel leads his own band, STRING FUSION. TROY NEIHARDT is a classically trained pianist (American Conservatory, Roosevelt University) with a world-wide career in dueling pianos. Though known primarily as a singing pianist, he has a side career as an accordionist (he?s featured on three songs on the LIZ PHAIR album ?Whitechocolatespaceegg?) and a blues harmonica player. As a performer, Neihardt is noted for his energy and virtuosity, and his love of Celtic music is expressed through his accordion, piano, harmonica and singing with THE CHICAGO ROVERS.
