TBS has a new comedy series called Wedding Band about a fictional atypical guitar-driven indie rock wedding band. The Mulligans are not affiliated with that show...but they HAVE been a real-life guitar driven indie-rock wedding/event band for the past several years!!!!! They've been touted as "the band to get when you want a band at your wedding but DON'T want a regular wedding band" and have also been affectinately nicknamed "Wed Zeppelin" by an enthusiastic client! The Mulligans specialize in playing unique and non-traditional wedding receptions and have expertly handled many creative/unusual song/first dance requests from such artists as The Dropkick Murphys, Phish, The Pogues, The Magnetic Fields, and The Proclaimers. They continue to be one of the area's premier hi-energy dance-rock bands playing a unique mix of music from the fifties on. A versatile four/five-piece ensemble, the Mulligans sculpt sets in unique, lively, and surprising ways taking the audience on a fun musical joyride— evidence their clever medley of Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots are Made for Walking" into The Door's "Break on Through" for example. In addition to playing classic dance hits by The Beatles, The Stones, Duran Duran, U2, Oasis, Neil Diamond, AC/DC, Elvis, etc., the Mulligans incorporate a Celtic flair into their music via instruments like mandolin and bouron, often pushing a party over the top by skewing a traditional Irish Drinking Song with a driving Green Day backbeat! The Mulligans musical goal is to get their audience on the dance floor and keep 'em there, making sure everyone—regardless of age or musical taste-- has a great time and is singing along. The Mulligans can also provide acoustic music for your ceremony and cocktail hour. They are centrally located near NYC and travel extensively in the greater metropolitan area to perform. A: No. We have our own LLC, but book everything ourselves. This keeps costs down and allows us to directly deal with our customers. Your wedding/party is important to us and we want to deal with you directly. Q: IF WE HIRE THE MULLIGANS, WHAT DO WE NEED TO PROVIDE YOU WITH? A: Just access to outlets and a staging area. We provide all the equipment. You are also welcome to use our soundsystem/mics for any toasts/speeches and to plug in an iPod of your own mixes during breaks. Q: CAN YOU PLAY MUSIC FOR THE CEREMONY? A: Absolutely. We provide light classical/Celtic acoustic music if you'd like. Q: OUR BRIDAL ENTRANCE, FIRST DANCE, FATHER/DAUGHTER, MOTHER/SON DANCE IS NOT ON YOUR LIST. CAN YOU LEARN THEM FOR US? A :Of course. We've learned everything from a traditional Gaelic melody on tin whistle, to Pantera's "Cowboys from Hell." Q: MY FIANCE'S UNCLE AL LIKES TO GET UP AND SING A SONG OR TWO WITH THE BAND.
