Description
The Next Of Kin is a band you must have. They hit the stage with such style and intensity that they make you feel like one of their friends.
They blend their Southern Rock roots with .. New Country.. and Classic Rock tunes to create a style of music enjoyed by everyone that hears them.
Ed White formed The Next Of Kin in 1980 as a Southern/Classic rock band performing throughout Texas, Arkansas and Mississippi. Rob Massey joined the band as the bass player in 1984. They soon built a chemistry between them that you could feel when they perform together on stage.
In 1992 Ed moved to Nashville to pursue a solo artist career. He became a songwriter and demo singer with other well known artists in Nashville.
In 2000 the band reformed again and with Rob living in Atlanta, they began playing a circuit between Nashville and Atlanta. In 2006 the band recruited Darryl Meadows on drums. They performed throughout the southeast playing clubs, events and private parties in Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, and North Carolina. They have even performed in front of Gov. Sonny Purdue of Georgia.
The Next Of Kin are still playing Southern/Classic rock tunes, as well as Country songs from their current C.D. ..No More Broken Hearts... The songs are written so powerfully and from the heart that you can feel their meaning in such songs as 'Heart Of An Honest Man' (a motto that the band lives by), 'Little Love Factory', '1935' as well as 'The Hostage'. They recently finished up their new CD, "Angels and Demons" in the summer of 2007. With powerful reviews and great attention brought to the single 'Just Yesterday' which went #1 on Indie 104.7 FM in Los Angeles California earlier this year. It has been featured on The Radio LIA show with a whopping 76.5% approval from her nation wide audience. The first album won four awards at the G.C.G.M.A (Georgia Country / Gospel Music Association).
The new C.D. promises to be an even bigger hit than their first C.D. with the same attention to detail and determination, the band keeps their music close to the heart as you will soon hear in songs such as 'As Far As Your Memory Goes' written by their good friend Casey Beathard (BMI Songwriter of the Year), 'No Way Around It', 'Phoenix Arizona' and 'Goodbye Nashville'. And those southern rock roots really come out in the song 'Nobody's Ugly after 2am' which has been quoted as 'being the dance hit of 2007'. "Goodbye Nashville" won the 2007 "Most Promising Song Writer of the Year" award at Pigeon Forge, Tn. These are just a few of the powerful songs you will find on their new album that is sure to make the country stand up and take notice to this very talented band from the south. Is this band the next coming of The Marshall Tucker band? You decide.
The current lineup is: Ed White-Guitar and vocals, Herman DePriest-Keyboards, Dennis Stein-Bass, and vocals, and Tom Kain-Drums. All are seasoned music veterans and Nsahville session players.
So sit back take a listen and you will soon see why The Next Of Kin's performance creates an atmosphere that all audiences love to sing along with and dance to.
Ed also does solo gigs if your venue is more suitable for (1) person. He has all of the songs on tracks and will be able to give you the complete sound performance as a full band. Rates are very affordable.

Feedback
- What a great time we had. The band was fabulous. They were everything that we were looking for. My Dad (the birthday boy) was really suprised and had a great time. Their play list was exactly what we had hoped for. The band members were very friendly and fun to hang out with. We are looking forward to hiring them again within the next year for a spring party and can't wait. I will highly recommend this band to friends and family members for any event.
Thanks guys, you were superb!!! -- Vanessa S, Blue Ridge, GA, 11/18/2006
- Great band! Very professional, flexible and accommodating. -- Diane C, Dahlonega, GA, 7/29/2006
- Both the band and their management were extremely professional and accommodating to our requests as we worked towards the Big Day. They visited our site and did a walk-thru deciding where to place equipment, location of outlets etc.
Once on stage, we were sure we'd chosen the right group - the band was great! They were very professional and gladly played the host's favorite song to his heart's content (at least 4 or more times). They were a real crowd pleaser, in fact, we've already hired them for an encore performance. We highly reccommend "Next of Kin"!!! -- Laurie P, Atlanta, ID, 5/6/2006
