Description
One of the Washington D.C area's top retro honky tonk bands, The Backroads Band plays CLASSIC COUNTRY music with a dash of 50's rock thrown in. In no time at all, they'll have you out on the dance floor doing a boot scootin' two step or snuggling up close for a slow tune. If you prefer an acoustic sound, we also play as an ACOUSTIC BLUEGRASS/COUNTRY group with fiddle, acoustic guitar, banjo and bass. Their sound is vintage country from the 1940s-1970s plus original roots songs written in that early country style.
Karen, the lead singer is a coal miner's daughter from Southwest Virginia who grew up listening to country music. For several years in a row, Ira, the lead guitar player has won multiple WAMMIES for best instrumentalist in both the bluegrass and country categories.
