Whiskey Logic is a high energy Texas-based Southern Rock/Country Band that performs their own original songs as well as some well tested covers they put their own spin on. A whiskey Logic show has something for everyone and they can fit into almost any Country or Rock scene. They are known for great live shows, keeping the crowd involved, and high venue alcohol sales. They have recently signed with TMG and their debut studio album will release in early 2012.
Like many great bands, Whiskey Logic was formed by chance and coincidence. This band's beginning can be traced back to a T-shirt! Singer/songwriter Mark Caleb Randolph and lead guitarist Edward Lynn Scott knew each other for over a year before they discovered they both played guitar. Mark Caleb was the sales manager for a local oilfield service and sales company and Edward Lynn Scott was one of his customers. If it hadn't been for a Gibson T-shirt that Edward was wearing one day when he stopped by, Whiskey Logic may have never been formed. Mark Caleb just happened to always carry his acoustic guitar in his truck with him everywhere he went to play in the hotels along his sales route. He played some of the original songs he had written like Whiskey Bottle Ride and the rest is history.
After playing together for just a few weeks, they knew they were on to something big. "We both just had so much in common in music. We loved the same bands and we both wanted to do something different that reflected back to the great Country music and Classic Rock that we loved so much. My songs had never sounded better and he brought out the best in me as a songwriter. I knew we had to get a band together, so I called my old friend and drummer Bruce "Irish" Hancock who I played with when I was the lead guitarist for The Texas Backroad Band. He was a perfect fit for the band. I remember at practice, Bruce and I would always stay after and play ZZ Top, AC/DC, and the bands that we loved that we could never get talked into the set." says Mark Caleb.
Bruce Hancock came out to play the following weekend and the three guys immediately hit it off. "It just felt right." says Bruce. "We were playing in Edward's tiny house in Kermit, TX and it was so small that my drums were set up in the kitchen and Edward and MC were in a connecting room. We knew we had something before we finished playing through the first song." says Bruce.
The band knew they had something special so Mark Caleb, Edward, and Bruce decided to search out a studio and record a demo. After visiting a couple of studios in Dallas and Austin, Mark Caleb visited Yellow DOG studios in Austin, TX and met producer/engineer David Percefull. David has produced albums for Texas legends such as Brandon Jenkins, Cody Canada, Jason Boland, and Stoney Larue. David asked Mark Caleb to play a couple of the songs that he was thinking of recording and Dave offered to produce a full studio album instead of the band only recording a demo. Two months later the guys were in Austin recording what is now their debut album "The Flipside". "Dave just brought a whole new level to the band." says Mark Caleb. "He can just hear things three recording sessions down the road. His ear is just amazing. He just brought in a whole new perspective and even added a song to the album. Paint it black was completely David's idea. I was looking for cover songs that we could add to fill out the live show and one day before a recording session at "The Dog", I was playing Paint it Black to Bruce while David was setting up the live room to record. Dave overheard me and walked by and said "We're recording that!". Bruce and I just looked at each other and were like "ok".
"The Flipside" album was completed at the end of 2011 and is now available on iTunes, Rhapsody, etc. The band got a nice plug and added to its fan base by being featured on comedian Joe Rogan's Deathsquad podcast hosted by Brian Redban in December. Their youtube video for My Last Call got the band's name out there and they were voted the Texas QuickPick by Texas Online Radio out of Austin, TX. The band was recently singed to TMG Records out of Oklahoma and is looking forward to touring the new album. "At the end of the day, we love the music. That's how this band is different; There's no egos or divas in the band. We just love the music and if we get paid for it, well even better." says Mark Caleb. We're all friends first. These guys are like brothers to me.
