Hi! My name is Steve Mazan and I love making strangers laugh. I've been doing comedy full-time for over a decade. My act has been described as "clean and clever." I've appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman, Craig Ferguson, Carson Daly, The Bob & Tom Show and many more television & radio shows. I've even won an Emmy! Despite all those TV appearances, I am most proud of my seven trips to the Mid-East to perform for our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. As a former service member myself It's an honor to bring some entertainment to our servicemen and women. Plus it's those shows that have shown me the true power of making people laugh and helping them forget their troubles for awhile. Over the past 12 years I've done comedy and speaking engagements for multiple Fortune 500 companies including Procter & Gamble. I tailor my act to each event and try to offer something for everyone. I have references upon request. Besides stand-up comedy, I've been lucky enough to become one of the hottest speakers in the country. I give inspirational talks about the importance of chasing your dreams--a message that was documented in the award-winning film "Dying to do Letterman" that I am the subject of. I started comedy in the famous San Francisco Comedy Scene--the same one where Robin Williams, Dana Carvey and Jake Johannsen started. The rich history and high standards of the scene taught me how to be clean and still have people rolling in the aisles. Not to say I don't enjoy a good risque' joke myself, and have a few if I need them--it's just nice to know I can do over an hour of material and still be PG-rated. Within a couple years of starting comedy I was able to quit my day job and do it full-time. I also appeared on the first season of Last Comic Standing. Soon I moved to Los Angeles and started touring the country, playing clubs and colleges all over. With my act and reputation growing I was soon invited to start appearing on television shows. I've appeared on Craig Ferguson's late night show multiple times, as well as Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen, Comedy TV and the Bob & Tom Show. My biggest dream when I started comedy was to perform on my favorite late night show: The Late Show with David Letterman. I was confident with the success I had so far that if I kept working hard I would be asked to be on the show someday. That's when I learned a valuable lesson: SOMEDAY isn't on the calendar! in 2005 I was diagnosed with cancer in both my liver and intestines and doctors told me that worst-case scenario I might only have 5 years to live. As you can imagine I was shocked. Now, I'm not a worst-case-scenario guy, but after picking up the pieces I asked myself "If I really only have 5 years, how did I want to spend it?" I knew I wanted to keep making people laugh. And I knew that I had to stop waiting for my dream to appear on Letterman to come to me. I had to chase it. I started a project called "Dying to do Letterman" to share my dream and get the attention of the show--asking audiences I performed for to e-mail Dave if they thought I was funny enough to be on the show. As you read above I eventually made it--but like anything worthwhile the journey was even more important than the destination. Luckily, I had a couple friends who are filmmakers documenting my journey. The resulting film "Dying to do Letterman" was finished in 2011 and started getting great reviews and winning awards at festivals across the country. The success and message of the film had an unplanned but amazing effect. It started inspiring others to stop waiting for SOMEDAY and start chasing their dream. I immediately started getting offers to come and talk to groups and give motivational speeches. Of course with my background there is always a bunch of humor infused with the message! I don't see any reason not to have people laughing as I remind them "It's not how much time you have, it's what you do with it." As far as my health i am still going strong and have flown past that worst-case scenario. i love to prove doctors wrong. I really believe that I'm healthy because I've spent these years chasing my dreams and making people laugh. I guess laughter is the best medicine. Besides stand-up comedy and speaking gigs, I am also a writer. In fact I won an Emmy while writing for The Ellen Degeneres Show. I can't tell you what a thrill it was to see Ellen Degeneres reciting jokes that I had written. Incredible. Speaking of my writing background, whenever I book a private comedy gig I love to work with the client to get as much information as possible so that I can tailor my performance for your group and event. I think it adds a nice touch and makes it special for each group. It also makes it fun and unique for me. With over a decade in the business I believe I have the talent, credits, know-how, and experience to make your event a success. I look forward to working with you. Steve

Steve was terrific -- both in how understanding he was of our non profit operation, how willing he was to accomodate our logistics... and how he provided comic relief to an overworked and under appreciated staff. Thank you, Steve!
