Amethyst is an exquisitely lovely trio of harp, violin & cello and a classic piano trio (violin, cello, piano). Besides concert and orchestral work, we have played for films, MTV, music videos, touring artists. One of our members toured last year with world-famous cellist Yo Yo Ma in a 3-week, 10-concert tour.

Our musicians have played in symphony halls, outdoors folk & jazz festivals, restaurants, bars, with rock bands, cafes, Las Vegas shows, rallies, and with touring companies and famous classical and pop artists. We also play as duo of violin & piano (or harp), flute & guitar, or as a baroque chamber quartet. Special requests can be arranged. Listen to our clips and read our reviews.

But mainly, we want to hear YOUR vision of the event, so that we can make that happen. Getting the music right is essential to an event. Our attitude is that we are there for you and we want to work with you to make your vision a reality.

One of our unique qualities is our versatility in style and instrumentation with only our small group. Our pianist is also a harpist and flutist and can bring more than one instrument to an event to provide variety. We play in a wide variety of styles besides classical, including jazz, Latin, pop/rock, Broadway and oldies. We make our own unique arrangements specifically for Amethyst Trio, so you won't hear them played by any other group the way we do.

Amplification also provided. Make sure you ask groups about this - it can make or break an event when the group cannot be heard. Ambient indoors noise and windy outdoors conditions both frequently cancel out a non-amplified acoustic group - making them seen but not heard. Over and over again, we play at events that would have been "music-less" had we not brought our amplification equipment. We bring small discreet equipment that enhances the sound, but does not appear bulky and distract from the visual effect of an elegant trio.

Professional Qualifications: Our music degrees are from Manhattan School of Music, UC Berkeley and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Our pianist/harpist lived in both Rome and in Paris, where her performing career was based for several years. We are in the California Symphony, SF Sinfonietta, Symphony Silicon Valley (formerly San Jose Symphony )and Marin Symphony. We also play with members of the SF Symphony and SF Opera Orchestra. The opera singer we work with has sung with New York City, L.A., San Francisco & San Diego Operas.
