Description
Hello and Thank You for considering Payam Larijani for your special event ! Payam can create the classy, but upbeat, fun and enthusiastic environment that you are looking to achieve!
Payam's influences include Andres Segovia, the great classical guitarist, to rocks, Jimi Hendrix and jazz’s Wes Montegomery.
While currently finishing up a Doctoral Degree in Classical Guitar Performance, Payam resides in the Orange County and Los Angeles Regions and has a teaching studio based in Irvine. Virtuoso classical/acoustic/electric guitarist and vocalist is liability insured and specializes in solo, duo, and ensemble/band based private bookings for individuals and businesses. House parties, corporate events, weddings, public concerts, master class instruction, etc.
# 1 Ranked Classic Virtuoso Guitarist in Orange County and Gigmasters nationwide. Winner of 3 music scholarships at UCLA, Cal State Los Angeles, and Claremont Graduate University.
Payam has been a featured performer at many UCLA Alumni Events, Chancellor's Milestone Fundraising Dinner, Powell Library Rotunda Series Concerts, and opening for special guest Nancy Reagan and Arnold Schwarzenegger at the UCLA Hospital Dedication Ceremony in 2006.
What makes Payam interesting and different, is his approach towards performance of the classic guitar, and the specific repertoire that he plays. His experience, attention to detail, and professional pride are hallmarks of his character! The UCLA daily bruin described his onstage performances as "remarkable, impeccable." But perhaps equally as important is his reputation for expanding the contemporary classical guitar repertoire. He brings a well-rounded thinking approach to music, which soothes the soul and intrigues the mind.
(from the artist) Payam: Aspiring towards a doctoral degree in music (Phd.) has provided me with the knowledge to play a variety of styles. I can play both as a solo classical guitarist or with my jazz/rock band and achieve the energy and environment that the client or venue demands and thrives in.
My repertoire during the cocktail hour consists of popular classical guitar pieces by Fernando Sor, Isaac Albéniz, Fernando Moreno Torroba, exciting and intense Solears, Farruca, Malaguena, Alegreia by Sophecles Papas, and more contemplative pieces by Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos. I also play the traditional works like the Romanza, Canon in D, Wedding March, Greensleves, and other traditional works like Scarborough Fair, Norwegian wood, Blackbird, from the Beatles, Wish you were here and Is there Anybody Out there ? by Pink Floyd. I try to mix in these lighter instrumentals and vocal tunes between the heavier classical guitar hits! It adds a nice variety to my program and is appealing to all ages!
My jazz guitar repertoire is made up of popular standards like Autumn Leaves, Black Orpheus, Django's Nuanges, Tune Up, Four on Six by Wes Montgomery, Mr. PC by John Coltrane, The Girl From Ipanema by Antonio Carlos Jobim, Corcovado, So What, and others.
My pop/rock repertoire includes songs by Santana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pink Floyd, Beatles, Dave Matthews Band, Bob Marley, Sublime, Radiohead, and a wide range of other top artists. I can play these solo or with my band.
For amplification, I have a portable, battery operated amplifier to give me just a bit of volume. I also have a top of the line full size PA system, wireless mics and guitar for an extra fee. I have done wedding using both systems. I can definitely guarantee you a professional, smooth, and enjoyable program with no technical difficulties.
Typically, I like to arrive about 1 hour prior to the event to setup, sound check, and be playing as the guests arrive...

Feedback
- Payam played beautifully. He created a wonderful background ambiance for our party. Beforehand, he sent me a demo CD that I now play as background music while working. He's professional, talented and accomodating. Highly recommended! -- Genevive B, Santa Monica, CA, 10/8/2005
- It was a very pleasant evening; all the guests enjoyed Laram's music and friendly attitude and his talent. -- Patricia D, Orange, CA, 11/13/2004
- Payam Larijani played at our wedding in October 2005. He is very talented and easy to work with. Payam's music made our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour beautiful and festive. He was exactly what we were hoping for. We would recommend Payam to anyone who is looking for a classical guitarist for either a casual or formal event, he would be great for both. Thank you again Payam.
