DESCRIPTION:
One of Boston's premier piano soloists, Ken Watson has been featured at musical events for more than thirty years. He entertains audiences with piano music everyone loves. His style blends a lifetime of classical study with contemporary improvisation to create imaginative arrangements of popular classics, jazz standards, and renowned love songs. Ken's repertoire includes the songs of great performers like Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Mel Torme, Nat King Cole, Tony Bennett, and Rosemary Clooney. These singers made some magnificent American composers shine, among them Gershwin, Porter, Ellington, Rodgers, Berlin, Arlen, and Carmichael. Ken also plays the music of Broadway as well as the songs of more contemporary singers like Billy Joel, Elton John, and Paul McCartney. Ken is a graduate of Shenandoah Conservatory of Music in Winchester, Virginia. He was the WBZ/CBS4 Children's Hospital Telethon pianist before it was taken off the air. Ken performs annually at the Trade Showcase of Beers, Boston's beer industry expo. He has been a long-time music teacher and accompanist to many accomplished soloists and instrumentalists. Ken can bring his own piano to any venue where an acoustic piano is not available. He travels with a Yamaha P-80 digital piano with an excellent sound system - the best professional equipment ensemble available. Ken has played for dozens of sing-alongs at birthday and anniversary parties. He provides lyrics to sing-along songs for clients upon request. Also, when clients wish to hear songs that are not on Ken's song list, he is pleased to work them up. Ken has complimentary demo CDs available. If time and distance allow, he would be happy to audition for prospective clients. Decades of experience and a youthful passion for the piano make Ken Watson a natural performer. With homes in Brookline, MA and on Martha's Vineyard, he is reasonably close to any venue in New England. He welcomes the opportunity to travel occasionally to venues anywhere in North America. Ken is a member of the Martha's Vineyard Chamber of Commerce.

Mr Ken Watson is a professional in every sense. Mr Watson brings a classic and refined sensibility to his piano playing with a soft touch that really allows for the music to shine. Mr Watson really took the time to understand our musical tastes and was kind enough to perform for us in the privacy of his home so we could get a sampling of his enormous talent!! Both my fiance and I were left spellbound by his piano playing that day and he was a tremendous hit on the day of our wedding. Mr. Watson was extremely courteous, accomplished, and professional. We hired him to play the piano during my mother's surprise 75th birthday party, and he added just the air of elegance that we had sought. He brought his own piano and speakers, played an extensive repertoire of music by heart, and accomodated many requests to accompany a number of performers within the family -- often at the last minute -- with grace and aplomb. Several dozen guests made a point of telling us how much they loved his playing, and what a great addition he was to the evening. We couldn't agree more. My dealings with him were outstanding at every stage; I recommend him highly!

We are delighted that we chose to invite Ken into our home and entertain our guests. He was extremely flexible and courteous in the selection of the play list, and went out of his way to assemble the lyrics of the songs we chose so that some of our guests could participate. Everyone had a great time, and Ken helped to set a sophisticated and fun mood... just right for our event.
Our theme was 50's era romantic songs from the American songbook, typically the songs sung by Frank Sinatra, Doris Day, Mel Torme, etc. Ken is very familiar with this genre and plays it confidently and well.
I highly recommend Ken to you, and would invite him back to our home again in the future without hesitation.

I hired Ken for my very non-traditional wedding day; which included a 20 minute ceremony and a 3 hour cocktail reception held in the same place. Ken provided the music for both the ceremony and for the entire reception. He was the only "entertainer" and his beautiful talent resonated throughout the large home where it all took place. I would have liked to have had him featured more, but logistically it just didn't work (although to no fault of Ken's). Nevertheless, his fancy finger work added a wonderful backdrop to a spectacular and laid-back evening. Ken took all the special requests I had and we worked together consistently for months (via e-mail) to ensure that both my mother and I were equally as satisfied; she got her Gershwin standards and I got my Stevie Wonder. I would recommend Ken for any kind of event. He is truly a professional who is not only easy to work with, but a pleasure to do business with.

Mr. Watson was accommodating, thoughtful, and helpful at every opportunity, as I planned the music for my wedding reception. When my musicians weren't able to arrive early enough to play music before the ceremony, Mr. Watson offered to play and even let us use his excellent digital piano for the ceremony. He arrived early, stayed late, and seemed to magically reappear in just the right place as the guests moved from the ceremony to the cocktail hour to the dinner.
I myself am a pianist and accompanist, and I was astounded by Mr. Watson's talent, skill, and repertoire. I cannot recommend him more highly, and I look forward to working with him again very soon.

We wanted background music for my father's 90th birthday party and Ken performed it beautifully. He came a half hour early so he was playing as our guests arrived. This was actually a wedding, not a Christening. I must have clicked the wrong box when I booked the event. Also, the venue changed as well. The wedding was held at The Primavera in Millis, MA.
