Description

We are String of Pearls Quartet out of College Park, MD. We'd love to make your event special. While I don't have a video of my classical string quartet or trio (I'm not sure a video of people reading music is all that entertaining), The classical group is all about our sound, and we do have many soundbites to choose from in our press kit. We also play lots more than classical music, as you can see from our ever growing song list.

I do have a link to video performances of my jazz group, "Susan Jones Jazz Quartet"
Kennedy-center.org/explorer/videos/?id=M1771&type=A, or you can go to Kennedy-Center.org, and go to the Millennium stage archives, you can punch in my name, Susan Jones, and see 3 different performances.
My jazz group is also available for hire. We can work as a violin/ guitar/ bass/ drum quartet, a trio of violin/guitar/bass, or as a violin and guitar duo. This link takes you to one of those performances.

My Mariachi trio is "Mariachi de los Compadres". We play authentic Mexican Mariachi music, as well as other Latin American Standards.

For world music, I play with the "Machaya Klezmer Band". We play authentic Klezmer music (Eastern European Jewish Folk Music), and have served the Jewish community of the greater Washington DC area for over 20 years, playing a multitude of Jewish weddings, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, as well as concerts.

Whatever your musical needs are,I hope to have the opportunity to play for you.

Feedback

  • I highly recommend String of Pearls! My overall experience with them was excellent! I had all kind of requests for them and they just went out of their way to play what I wanted when I wanted it. The months preceeding my wedding were very hectic but string of pearls made it incredible easy by reaching out to me, making suggestions and accomodating to the different changes I made (many of them at the last minute). Great personalized service since I had direct access to them through e-mail and phone. Great talent and the best pricing out of every quote I got. Thank you so much! -- Andrea M, Great Falls, VA, 5/20/2011
  • A friendly, talented group of musicians! Playing of great sonority, color, and nuance. Very clean ensemble playing. Bravo!! I am planning on hiring them to play again in a few months! -- Sterling W, Gaithersburg, MD, 2/11/2011
  • What a fabulous band! Comments from our guests: "Where did you find the band, they're fantastic!" "I could see them playing at the Kennedy Center or the White House!" "They are just perfect for the event." Yes, I would highly recommend String of Pearls, whether it's a small indoor event or large outdoor party. Amazing musicians and highly professional. -- Lisa Z, Havre De Grace, MD, 5/18/2011
  • We were extremely happy with them. They arrived on time with plenty of time for set up. They were willing to move from the wedding site downstairs to the reception upstairs. The music was beautiful and it all was just perfect. -- Ellen R, Washington, DC, 10/9/2011
  • We used the String of Pearls for our wedding ceremony music. They were professional, prompt, responsive and easy to work with. I would definitely recommend them. -- Ann C, Upper Marlboro, MD, 11/11/2011
  • Susan's crew as fantastic! First, they are extremely talented and played so many great Christmas Carols that were just perfect for our 'Old Fashioned Christmas Party' theme. Second, they were very professional and checked with me about the dress for the occasion so that they looked perfect for the evening. Finally, they were very gracious to allow a "flash mob" of carolers invade their space a little bit! This was sort of a last minute change and they were incredibly generous of their time and just went with it. I will ABSOLUTELY call them again if I need a group with string talent--hands down, they are awesome! -- Teresa G, Summit Point, WV, 12/17/2011
  • They arrived on time, were extremely friendly and professional, and the music was fabulous! I would definately use them again!! -- Beth C, Fredericksburg, VA, 12/31/2011
  • We enjoyed the trio so much!! All of wedding guest said there music was wonderful!!.Thank you all to Susan Jones and the band!! -- Charles B, Pennsville, NJ, 1/21/2012
  • I was able to preview String of Pearls in a coffee shop in MD before they performed at my wedding. Susan was very professional and took several requests from me at the coffee shop. She communicated well via email and phone as we were planning for my wedding reception. She accommodated for all of my special requests, including learning new songs with her trio and adding 2 soloists last minute for my first dance and my father-daughter dance. She even provided a soloist (the bass player) for the mother-son dance. They are very good with improv and even invited one of my soloists up to sing additional songs. I'm so very pleased and would choose them to do it again. -- Sara T, Powhatan, VA, 3/4/2012
  • Everyone really enjoyed your performance during our event. "Excellent as well as "fun" was how folks described the music. Thank you so much. I'll use String of Pearls again and again. -- Eric B, Washington, DC, 3/27/2012
