About
Harpist, Emma Maftei is available for professional bookings, including weddings, receptions, special events, church and school performances, and harp presentations for clubs and/or civic groups. Emma received her Bachelor of Music degree in Harp Performance from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.While at IU, Emma performed solo and chamber recitals and she was part of various bands and orchestras. A native of Romania, Emma had the opportunity to play recitals and orchestra concerts in her home country, as well as in Switzerland, where she toured in April 2007. Emma and her friend Liz Nowland are part of a harp duo and so far they had many performances in Bloomington and Columbus, Indiana, as well as in Toledo, Ohio.

"I wasn't able to spend much time with her, but from all whom spoke with her, they said she was very polite. I loved hearing her playing the harp as I walked down the aisle, it was everything I thought it would be. She has a nice selection of music, and it was perfect that she play "What a Wonderful World" at our Unity candle lighting. Loved the harp, so thankful she was available!!"

"As a musician, I take music very seriously and have high expectations for any performance. Emma rose to all of my expectations! She arrived on time and played so beautifully that the guests commented on it for the rest of the evening. Emma was helpful in the selection of songs and her ability to make them fit in the allotted times was flawless. Without a doubt, Emma's music elevated my ceremony. "Emma did a wonderful job at our daughters wedding on May 26, 2012. It was an outdoor wedding at 6pm in a covered pavilion, the weather was extremely hot. Emma was there on time, played during the ceremony beautifully. After, she moved inside for the cocktail hour. I missed her performance due to pictures but guests said she played wonderfully. It was nice background music. I would highly recommend Emma for any event, and hope to hire her again in the future."

"Emma was awesome. She was very accomodating. She allowed my wife to come and listen to her play live. She sample many songs for us. She was always professional with all encounters. Many of the guests from our wedding have mentioned in conversations "the Harp Player" brought elegance to our wedding. Emma exceeded our expectations in many ways. She was able to make adjustments on our wedding day. There was a 15 min delay for us in starting the wedding. However, Emma, continued to play during this period. Her music is very soothing to the ears...She is awesome. Look no further, She is definitely the right candidate if you are in need of a harpist!!! Derrick&Alourdes "

"At first, I was a bit nervous because there wasn't much communication between Emma and myself, or there would be long periods of time between e-mails. I never called her - and in hindsight I realized, I never had to. She had a level of talent that didn't require too much interaction. I sent her the information, she showed up on time, played BEAUTIFUL music, used the cues I spoke of in the email (I wanted to have the doors open to a certain part in a song), and she nailed it. My guests are STILL talking about the music. I was pleasantly surprised and would definitely recommend Emma - especially for elegant weddings with a touch of class."
