About
The Helvetica String Trio specializes in providing live entertainment for weddings, private parties, and special events. We cover a wide range of styles, and would love to be a part of your special occasion.
We have a versatile and varied repertoire consisting of classical, folk, rock, pop, and many other genres. We are able to play anything from the Wedding March to a cover of your favorite song.
Jamie Wilson studied violin performance at Western Michigan University. She has played the violin with the Mississippi Symphony, Lansing Symphony, One World Symphony, Astoria Symphony, and many other ensembles.
Portia Zwicker, violist, graduated with a bachelors in music from Union College. She performed as the principal violist in the Richmond Philharmonic Orchestra from 2006-2008, with the Joli String Quartet from 2006-2008, and has been a member of the Greenwich Village Orchestra since 2011. In 2013 she joined the Park Avenue Chamber Symphony. She also occasionally plays with the Spectrum and Astoria Symphonies. In her first venture outside of classical music, she joined the folk band Prairie Empire in 2011.
Layne McNish studied cello performance at the University of Oklahoma. Since then, she has performed with the Astoria
Symphony, One World Symphony, Arkansas Symphony, Opera in the Ozarks, Prairie Empire, and toured with the Broadway musical “Camelot”.

"I asked the ladies from Helvetica String Trio to play while I proposed to my girlfriend. They were amazing. They were extremely accommodating. I was not sure of the location initially, they were patient as I worked out the details. Then, two days before the outdoor proposal, the forecast called for rain. Again, the ladies worked with me as I changed all of the plans.
Then the big day came. Their music made a day she would always remember become a day she would never forget! As we approached the spot, Canon in D filled the room. It was beautiful! I can't put my appreciation into words. I can say I would definitely recommend Helvectia String Trio!
