Matthew Wright (lute) and Claire Raphaelson (soprano) have played together for nearly three years, and have since explored the music of Italian, French and English Renaissance masters as well as those of the early Baroque period. Recent performances include collaboration with the viol consort Longy & Away, and spots on the concert series' of the Longy School of Music, St. Margaret's Annapolis, St. John's Boston, and King's Chapel. Both musicians hold Masters degrees in Historical Performance from the Longy School of Music and frequently perform/teach in and around New England.

Matthew Wright is a native of Baltimore, Maryland. After years of playing progressive rock on the bass guitar, he attended the Peabody Conservatory where he studied classical guitar with Ray Chester and lute with Mark Cudek. Upon moving to Cambridge in 1999, he began concentrated lute studies with Douglas Freundlich at The Longy School of Music, and subsequently received an MM in Early Music Performance. While there, he founded the group Seven Times Salt, an ensemble specializing in 16th century music of England. He has performed as a solo lutenist and continuo player for ensembles and soloists throughout the Eastern U.S., Canada, and Europe such as Renaissonics, The Lorelei Ensemble, Ars et Amici, Long and Away (MA), Ensemble Al Verso (Switzerland), Fanfare Consort (CT), and the New Brunswick Early Music Festival. (Canada). Recent performances include several solo concerts of 16th-century Italian music, collaborative recitals with Claire Raphaelson (soprano), and many engagements with Seven Times Salt. Matthew currently maintains a private lute studio, and teaches guitar and bass guitar at Riverside Theater Works (Hyde Park, MA), Belmont Hill School, and the Longy School of Music (Cambridge, MA).

New Yorker Claire Raphaelson has made a home for herself in Boston as an active recitalist and soloist with wide-ranging musical pursuits. Praised for her "stylistically nuanced performances," and "charming sense of chutzpah,"( Boston Musical Intelligencer) Claire collaborates frequently with lutenist Matthew Wright and keyboardist Matthew Hall, and appears with numerous ensembles such as Exsultemus, Musical Offering, Long & Away, Seven Times Salt, Harvard Early Music Society, and others. Recent performances include the title role in Bacchus et Erigone by Mondonville at Boston Early Music Festival and Helios Early Opera's debut season.
