Featuring a variety of instruments (harp, hammer dulcimer, guitar, cittern, bouzouki, Irish flute and whistle, bodhran), Wyndnwyre was formed in 1980 and performs original music, traditional tunes from Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Brittany, combined with Medieval music and ancient harp tunes by Turlough O'Carolan and other renowned Irish harp-composers. Past performances at festivals & concerts throughout the Southwest include the Houston International Festival, Dickens on the Strand, Texas Renaissance Festival, North Texas Irish Festival, the University of Houston Clear Lake Concert Series, University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston Concert Series.

Their music was perfect for the event; I have received numerous comments from parishioners who attended who were very, very impressed with them, and I know they sold many CD's. We will definitely be looking at having them when we have our next Shrove Tuesday celebration in two years. Thank you, Wyndnwyre, and thank you Gigmasters!
