Description
The Ivy Leaf is a young traditional Irish quartet that came together through the Boston session scene. Featuring fiddles, flute & whistle, concertina, vocals and bouzouki and guitar accompaniment, the group's influences are a blend of the old and new, taking on centuries old dance music and giving it a modern vigor. Among those influences are many of the local musicians who define the sound of Irish music in Boston and Providence. Enriching that tradition is an intense curiosity for old, isolated, or obscure forms of music, arming the group with an array of tunes from jigs to polkas to hornpipes, along with songs of both Irish and American origin.
The Ivy Leaf's first album is due out early 2012.
The Ivy Leaf has had a variety of experience playing at pubs, folk clubs, schools, nursing homes, corporate events, weddings and private parties. They've been featured performers at the Boston Celtic Music Festival, at Irish Cultural Center events in Canton, MA and at the Make Music Cambridge festival. They've worked with numerous couples to provide beautiful traditional music for their wedding ceremonies and cocktail hours, played a variety of birthday and anniversary parties as well as holiday season and St. Patrick's Day events, and provided educational entertainment to school-age children.
Each member has their own solo booking schedule in addition to their gigs with the Ivy Leaf. If you are interested in hiring just one or two of the members, that can be coordinated upon your request.

Feedback
- Future brides, I highly recommend the Ivy Leaf to play at your ceremony and confidently recommend them for other types of special events as well. They played during our wedding ceremony earlier this month in a Catholic church and the music was perfect -- very heartfelt and beautiful, it was just what I was hoping for. In addition, I found Lindsay, the point of contact for the band, very easy to work with and friendly, which is invaluable in the midst of wedding planning mayhem. She helped me find the best two songs for the procession and seemed as enthusiastic as I was for the Big Day! Thank you, all, you played a very special role on a very special day. -E -- Erin F, Yarmouth Port, MA, 10/9/2011
