- Roy Harkey - Vocal, Guitar, Porch Bass
Description
Roy started making music in his youth. During his early school years, he started singing, and played the accordion, trumpet, tuba, guitar, electric bass, and the upright string bass. He was invited to play string bass with the Oklahoma Youth Orchestra, and the Oklahoma University Lab Band and Symphony.
He played bass for Ike and Tina Turner during his early college days (before their famous split-up), and has played and sung with over a dozen small to large bands during his music career. Roy has also had the opportunity to sing and play both on and off stage with Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Hornsby, Tommy Castro, Delbert McClinton, Bruce Channel, Harlow Wilcox, Edgar Cruz, and a few other nationally known recording artists.
In addition to having a "normal" corporate career, Roy has been a "gigging" solo guitar player/singer for most of his adult life. He has performed a One-Man-Show in Las Vegas, and now specializes in private parties (house parties, pool parties, cocktail parties, family celebrations, anniversaries, birthdays, etc.), wedding receptions, public festivals, corporate functions, restaurants, clubs, and community events.
For most solo performances, Roy uses a foot controlled Porch Bass and 'miked' Tambourine to add to his guitar and voice. His style of guitar playing lends itself to a full-sounding accompaniment without the use of pre-recorded tracks, and makes dancing along with the beat easy and fun.
He has a very large musical repertoire, and covers most musical styles. He enjoys playing Folk, Blues, Old and New Country, Ballads, Folk/Rock, Soft Rock, Rockabilly, DooWops, Golden Oldies and Easy Listening music; and can 'mix' enough different types of music during his sets to please everyone in the crowd. Roy is equally at home at YOUR private house party as he is on a concert stage.
He has high quality instruments and PA sets that will handle any sized venue, from large halls and outdoor events to parties in private homes.

- Roy is a very talented vocalist and musician. His professionalism is outstanding and we were extremely pleased to have him provide the entertainment for our party. A great person to work with!! -- Alicia , Mckinney, TX, 9/20/2008
- Roy and his wife were absolutely amazing! We had a private event with approximately 100+ present. He arrived early and set up and made certain that his sound was just right. He made sure that he was an acompaniment to the party and not the focal point which is exactly what I wanted however he has the personality not to mention the talent to carry the party all on his own if one wished. His reportoire of music is amazing and I couldn't even narrow it down because he has so many songs that choosing is a formidable but fun task as my husband and I went back down memory lane while making our selections. Thanks Roy! I will recommend you whenever I have the chance! -- Melanie A, Cedar Park, TX, 6/1/2008

- Fun, Fun, Fun!!!!! We would love to have you back!
I must say that I truly appreciate Roy's dedication to his craft. You can truly see how much he loves doing what he does by the detail he gives to each gig he is hired to perform at. Roy was very dependable and made sure my event was completely discussed and prepared for beforehand. Roy showed up in advance of the event and made sure all the sound equipment and his singing area were prepared by the time I stated. My guests truly had such a great time. The best part was when Roy let my guests sing along and make numerous requests. I appreciate Roy's flexibility to change things up a bit! Thank you, Thank you :) -- Tamara K, Flower Mound, TX, 8/11/2007
- Roy is an exceptional talent, and we feel blessed that we were able to have him perform at my father's Suprise Birthday. From the first conversation with him, throught the set-up, performance and breakdown, Roy continued to be both professional and warm towards my family and guest. I think people were more impressed with him than the rest of the party!!!! For days after the party I was receiving request from friends and family about how to contact Roy for future parties and get togethers, his talent truly made the party a special night to remember for all of us!!
