DESCRIPTION:
Roy started making and writing music in his youth. During those early years, he co-wrote and played on a Country song "Groovy Grubworm" that went to #1 on the country charts, and was nominated for a Grammy that same year. He learned very quickly that having a top song on the charts didn’t pay the bills, and instead used his music to work his way through school. He played bass for Ike and Tina Turner during his college days (before their famous split-up), and has played and sung with over a dozen small to large bands since then. Roy has also had the opportunity to sing and play both on and off stage with Bonnie Raitt and a few other nationally known artists. Roy received his degrees from Oklahoma University. Roy’s major areas of concentration were Marketing and Economics – both areas of study that allowed him to stay involved with creating and marketing music while in school, and during his subsequent career in the Consumer Electronics Business. His “regular” career with Panasonic, Clarion, and Sony, kept him around the music community, and gave him opportunities to meet and work with many “music makers”; both the artist and the people who designed and marketed the equipment used to reproduce their music for all to see and hear. He was on the Sony team that created the Sony Walkman and Discman, and headed up the Car Stereo/Consumer Electronics sales & marketing team that launched the Compact Disc and related "Digital Products" in the USA. He has been a "gigging" solo guitar player/singer for the past 20 years. He has performed a One-Man-Show in Las Vegas, and now specializes in private parties (both small and large), weddings, public festivals, corporate functions, restaurants and night clubs, and community events. For most solo performances, Roy uses a foot controlled Porch Bass and 'miked' Tambourine to add to his guitar and voice. It helps create a very 'full' sound, and makes dancing along with the beat easy and fun. He has a very large musical repertoire, and covers most musical styles. He enjoys playing Folk, Blues, Old and New Country, Ballads, Folk/Rock, Soft Rock, Rockabilly, DooWops, Golden Oldies and Easy Listening music; and can 'mix' enough different types of music during his sets to please everyone in the crowd. He has high quality instruments and PA sets that will handle any sized venue, from large halls and outdoor events to parties in private homes.

CLIENT FEEDBACK:
Roy and his wife were absolutely amazing! We had a private event with approximately 100+ present. He arrived early and set up and made certain that his sound was just right. He made sure that he was an acompaniment to the party and not the focal point which is exactly what I wanted however he has the personality not to mention the talent to carry the party all on his own if one wished. His reportoire of music is amazing and I couldn't even narrow it down because he has so many songs that choosing is a formidable but fun task as my husband and I went back down memory lane while making our selections. Thanks Roy! I will recommend you whenever I have the chance!

Roy is an exceptional talent, and we feel blessed that we were able to have him perform at my father's Suprise Birthday. From the first conversation with him, throught the set-up, performance and breakdown, Roy continued to be both professional and warm towards my family and guest. I think people were more impressed with him than the rest of the party!!!! For days after the party I was receiving request from friends and family about how to contact Roy for future parties and get togethers, his talent truly made the party a special night to remember for all of us!!
Thanks Roy!

Roy was perfect! We hosted a dinner party for 120 people on a boat cruise in Austin. Roy was extremely professional and took the time to communicate through phone first, then emails. He asked for our requests and expectations and more than delivered. Our event was at 630pm and he arrived at 330 to set up, so all ran smoothly when guests arrived. He really went beyond what we asked in several capacities. The guests loved Roy and he was great to work with.

Fun, Fun, Fun!!!!! We would love to have you back!
I must say that I truly appreciate Roy's dedication to his craft. You can truly see how much he loves doing what he does by the detail he gives to each gig he is hired to perform at. Roy was very dependable and made sure my event was completely discussed and prepared for beforehand. Roy showed up in advance of the event and made sure all the sound equipment and his singing area were prepared by the time I stated. My guests truly had such a great time. The best part was when Roy let my guests sing along and make numerous requests. I appreciate Roy's flexibility to change things up a bit! Thank you, Thank you :)

It was certainly a pleasure for me and some of my associates to have Roy Harkey and his lovely wife, Geri, join us for two days at our duck camp. He was most agreeable to anything and everything we wanted to do. He was willing to play all the time. He was very pleasant; he knew every song anyone had ever heard about; and I would highly recommend him to anyone that is considering this type entertainment. We hope to have him back sometime before too long to play for another group. Certainly we hope he will be able to come back again next year for some of these groups that I have periodically at my camp.
I sincerely appreciate your putting me in touch with him. I wish both Gigmasters and Roy the very, very best.

Roy was great! Our group ranged in age from babies to 80 plus. Roy played a wide range of music to please all those present. The kids especially enjoyed the "Winnie the Pooh" song and "Long Tall Texan"
My mother especially enjoyed "Danny Boy". We all enjoyed dancing too-country, jitterbug, blues etc. and singing along to familiar tunes.
Roy interacted well with everyone-winning praise from the whole group, especially my Mom. I would definitely reccommend him as entertainment to others. He seemed to genuinely enjoy entertaining the crowd. He was very professional in his performance and talent. We have already booked him for next year's festival.
