DESCRIPTION:
Performing together since 2006, Hackberry Road has logged hundreds of gigs around Texas and parts of Oklahoma. Two of their original songs, "Angel" and "Jimmie's got a Girl" have received considerable play on Cell Block Radio here in Texas and also in Australia and Canada. Their Myspace page has been viewed more than fifty thousand times, and they've garnered a list of friends more than six-thousand strong. Hackberry Road consistently ranks in the Top 100 unsigned acts in Texas in the Myspace Southern Rock, Blues, & Americana categories. Known for their impromptu jam sessions, they often get members of the audience onstage to sing or play cowbells, shakers, and drums. They've even shared a stage with Charlie Torres and Tom Curiale from Rick Derringer's band!
Jon Hodge, lead guitarist for the band says, "The music we play and the songs we write are about things we all go through in our lives - love, heartache, success and failure, and just trying to make the most of the life we've been given." A night with Hackberry Road is a night filled with music Texans know and hold sacred, songs from some of the biggest legends to ever step on stage. From Stevie Ray Vaughan and ZZ Top to Pat Green and Johnny Cash to Albert King and Muddy Waters, nothing is out of bounds at a Hackberry Road show. Stay long enough and you'll usually catch Mark Nesmith, the bands lead vocalist and drummer, leaving the drum stool behind and picking up a guitar to strum a few tunes he's picked up from the radio. The band's own well-crafted original songs are mixed in right along side classic hits and newer music from current stars like Stony Larue, Dave Mathews, Los Lonely Boys, Matchbox 20, Cross Canadian Ragweed, and Montgomery-Gentry. "After all, it's all music, and all music has some common ground," says Joe Gutting, who plays bass and sings with the band. The guys from Hackberry Road did an excellant job at my wedding reception. They were given less than a week to learn our first dance song and played it very well. They were awesome. They played for a long time before taking a break and played a variety of music. A lot our clients asked for their information interested in booking them for other events. We loved Hackberry Road. Our event was scheduled to be outside and the weather was predicting snow and temperatures as low as 27 degrees. The band never complained. They were so flexible and accomodating. We were able to move them in at the last minute! Hackberry Road allowed the kids and families to play instruments and even sing a few songs with them. We received multiple compliments regarding the band. We will definetly invite them back next year!

This is an amazing band. They are extremely professional and so talented. They played for the ceremony, durning dinner and the reception. I have gotten nothing but compliments from everyone who attended the wedding about how wonderful the band was!
