DESCRIPTION:
33rd Street Band, LLC, is a diverse group of seasoned musicians who share a love of the great horn bands of the 1960s and 1970s. Each member brings his unique background to the music to make a unified wall of sound, creating fantastic big horn rock and roll excitement! The band's founder Steve VerMeulen (tall guy in center of pic) envisioned a big showband with a 'killer horn section' to play the music of Chicago, Blood Sweat & Tears, Ides of March, Lighthouse, The Blues Brothers, Etc. In early 2003 the band came together in the basement of Steve's house, located off of 33rd Street. The band also rehearsed for a while at a former member's house on another 33rd Street. This coincidence, plus the fact that all of this great music was oiginally recorded on 33 rpm vinyl made the name an easy choice. 33rd Street Band has extensively toured the region playing Festivals, corporate events, nightclubs and private parties. We occasionally team up with the acclaimed Blues Brothers impersonators, the Soul Men of Cleveland, Ohio, to authentically recreate the Blues Bros. phenomenon. Now located in downtown Kalamazoo, Michigan the 33rd Street Band LLC is smokin' hot and ready to make your event memorable! Here's what "Blues News" had to say about 33rd Street Band:
Kalamazoo Blues Festival July 6-8 2006
Another horn driven band is the 33rd Street Band. Lead by trombonist Mark Patrie, the 33rd Street Band had a secret weapon for today's show. The Soul Men are a Cleveland based Blues Brothers tribute act who won the crowd with their antics. Backed by the extremely tight band, the Soul Men brought back all the great songs by Jake and Elwood Blues such as Hey Bartender, Minnie the Moocher, Soul Man and of course, Rubber Biscuit. From the black suits to the knuckle tattoos, these guys were great. Leading the crowd in song and dance, the 33rd Street Band and the Soul Men were a fun-filled treat. Please note: Due to overwhelming response...we request...PLEASE BOOK EARLY!!! Our calendar fills up fast.

CLIENT FEEDBACK:
I hired 33rd Street Band for a surprise 50th birthday party for my wife at the Plymouth Country Club located in Plymouth, Indiana. Chris was a great guy to work with. The bands song list is awesome and the talent of all musicians is incredible. They even took the time to learn my wifes' favorite song, Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress" by the Hollies. Not only was I impressed by the talent of this group, but everyone in attendence was too. I had endless compliments for doing such a great job in hiring this band. Our club president was in attendence and he said we need to have these guys back for our annual Luau Party. I know I will definetely hire this talented group for my next party. I just wish it was sooner than later. I already contacted 33rd Street Band and requested to be put on their mailing list for future gigs thay have scheduled. Thanks again.

What a great band! We hired them for my mom's 50th birthday party, and they were such a hit. They were so entertaining, and even learned a special request song for us. We really enjoyed having them there, they definitely made the party!

Everyone had a great time! The add-on attraction of The Soulmen, a Blues Brothers lookalike pair, made the party even more fun. Book these guys for a fun time, music was all standards/popular, well known stuff. The band should consider listing themselves on Gigmasters as a package deal with the Soulmen...
