The Jeff Scroggins Bluegrass Band brings all of the drive, power, & energy of bluegrass music to a diverse repetoire that includes everything from bluegrass(of course) & new acoustic music to 60s & 70s rock and pop as well as lots of their original material. The band it built around the virtuoso banjo playing of Jeff Scroggins. Jeff is an internationally known performer, teacher, and recording artist with a long list of credits and accomplishments. Jeff has won dozens of banjo contests in his career, including the prestigious National Bluegrass Banjo Championship. The band also features Jeff's 15 year old son Tristan Scroggins on the mandolin, and singer/songwriter Lisa Astrella on guitar and vocals. Tristan has certainly followed in his father's footsteps, winning his first mandolin contest less than six months after he began playing at the age of nine! Since that time Tristan has won numerous mandolin contests and he is currently both New Mexico State Champion and Arizona State Champion! Lisa Astrella has always loved to sing, and she has a background of performing in musical theatre, choirs, etc. She was an unlikely candidate to become the lead singer in a bluegrass band, but she had always loved the music, and when she saw the Cohen brothers' 2000 hit movie "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou" she was hooked. She dusted off the guitar and began writing her own songs, and she has been going strong ever since. Backed by some of the hottest players and singers from Colorado's thriving bluegrass music scene, The Jeff Scroggins Bluegrass Band is one of the hottest young bluegrass bands in the West!
