DESCRIPTION:
Bluegrass music thrives through creative change coupled with tried and true tradition. Coming from Ohio, a state with a history rooted in the progression of the genre, Lawson Reunion strives to keep that marriage alive. Their music is a melting pot of ideas and influences and their members are equally as bonded.Their name, while simple sounding, has a deeper meaning as well. The bands seven members span three generations of the Lawson family. Before the youngsters hit the scene, the older generations, in tandem with other family members and friends, formed a traditional bluegrass and gospel band called Mountain Memories. After years of performances and fun times, Mountain Memories came to an end due to illness in two of the bands members. Some members formed rock, country, and blues bands after the band met its end, which also eventually ran its course. After years at a dead end, the next generation filled the gap, melding together the styles of Mountain Memories with several other genres of music, in a new energy and passion. This melding of generations with varied, yet usually shared creative preferences is best described as a Lawson Reunion. These varied preferences have conceived many unique songs with traditional as well as progressive sounds which make up the largest portion of their repertoire. Although progression took hold, in honor of the previous band and carrying the traditional style of music into fresh material, they named their first CD Mountain Memories. Now, after ten years as a band, their passion is still unwavering. With a long past in music, and hopefully a long future, they live for the joy of playing, the healing it can bring to someone who is struggling in life, and most of all, they live for God. Gospel songs will always play an important role in their music. The band, however, has always believed that what theyre playing doesnt matter as much as the feeling behind it. Bluegrass, gospel, or anything else can be played with the same good intention, and Lawson Reunions intent is for any audience to listen and relate, have some joy, or rest a weary mind.
