Description

If you are looking to give your guests a great taste of North Carolina tradition, we're the band for you. Backstreet combines high energy, fine musicianship, and unsurpassed vocal harmonies to help make your event special. Based in the North Carolina Blue Ridge, Backstreet has been performing their eclectic mix of acoustic roots music since 1985. The band members are all seasoned veterans who have the experience, the repertoire and the chops to give you just the performance you're looking for. Backstreet has performed at countless weddings, private parties, festivals (including world-famous Merlefest), and music venues across North Carolina and the Southeast. The band completed a tour in England and Scotland in 2003. Backstreet has produced 2 CDs; "Another Look"(2002) and "Live at The Famous Bein Inn" (2004).

The band's extensive, intelligent repertoire is influenced by bluegrass, old-time, folk, western swing, blues, and Celtic music to name just a few styles. Band members consider that they are a product of their environment. From their home in the N.C. Blue Ridge they have been exposed to the rich heritage of traditional music this region has fostered. Choosing songs both old and new, songs that everyone knows and gems recovered from the depths of obscurity, Backstreet lends to each song the band's own unique sound and energy. They also perform many original songs written by band members. Strong, tight vocal harmonies are an important element of Backstreet's music.

Feedback

  • When my wife booked a bluegrass band for our daughter's wedding, I was concerned about how it would go over with our guests, particularly the younger, dancing crowd. I shouldn't have worried. Backstreet played some great bluegrass tunes, but all sorts of other music as well and really had the crowd going. My wife's 88 year-old father was out on the floor. They were great to work with and clearly enjoyed what they do. We heard nothing but enthusiastic compliments about the music. Roger, Keith, Randy, Jeff and Joe also had the flexibility and good humor to honor the bride's special musical request that made her very happy. I highly recommend them. • Backstreet was a pleasure to work with! We had many requests that they were able to play/learn, including Hava Nagila for our Jewish inspired wedding. The music was great, but also their communication was excellent. They sent us a free CD of their music and invited us to a private event they were playing so we could see them live before we decided to hire them. I would highly recommend Backstreet as I am considering hiring them for another event! -- Scott J, Carrboro, NC, 6/13/2009
  • The band was a great asset to the event and we will definetely work with them in the future. The music was wonderful and the personalities were even better. Thank you to the group for a wonderful experience. -- Michael D, Newton, NC, 11/10/2007
  • We had possible feedback from our vendors, festival goers, town council and even the mayor! Great job!! -- Vickie H, Rutherfordton, NC, 5/2/2009
  • They were wonderful!!!! What an awesome experience from start ot finish. They were great at keeping communication after we had booked with them. They played alot of different instruments from the mandolin to the accordian to the violin. They did this wonderful Tennesse Waltz that was superub. They're not your average bluegrass band, they were very professional and they sounded awesome. Almost everyone at the party came up to me and asked me where I found this band. I overheard many conversations talking about how good the band was. They truly made this party such an amazing memory. They even learned a song that they didn't know just for me, I could tell thåt †hey had put a lot of though† into this particular performance. I would highly recommend them!!! -- Leslie A, Pulaski, VA, 6/2/2007
