Booking Big Bands

Big band music is a style of jazz originating in the 1930's and 1940's. This was known as the big band era. Big bands were made famous by such jazz bands as Duke Ellington's Big Band, Benny Goodman's Big Band, Woody Herman's Big Band, and Count Basie's Big Band. In the 1990's there was a renewed interest in swing music and big band music which was fueled by a resurgence in swing dancing, and it included such dances as the Jitter Bug and the Lindy Hop. Jazz big bands vary in size. They have anywhere from 11 to as many as 18 performers. A typical big band consists of saxophones, trombones, trumpets, a rhythm section (piano, bass, guitar, and drums), and vocalists. Big bands are hired to play at many types of events including weddings, dances, concerts, conventions, parties, and corporate events.

Tips For Booking A Big Band
