DESCRIPTION:
The Norm Hathaway Big Band was formed to bring back the great dance music of the Swing Era. We specialize in authentic arrangements of the 30's and 40's. We are a big band in the traditional sense --5 saxes, 3 trumpets, 3 trombones, piano, bass, guitar, drums and a vocalist--16 professional-stature musicans. For example, Eddie Bert, our featured trombonist has played for such bands as Red Norvo, Elliott Lawrence, Benny Goodman, Charlie Barnet,and Duke Ellington, just to name a few. We also have Vince Corozine a most accomplished alto sax player,arranger and composer, Peter Tortora and Wayne Castle who have played lead trumpet with notable army bands and New York Big Bands, Mike Caruso who teaches bass and guitar and has played with Broadway shows and New York studio bands, and Norm Hathaway who has played sax with some of Canada's top bands in Toronto, Banff, Quebec and The Royal Canadian Navy. We would be happy to tailor a program for any social occasion. References are available upon request.
