DESCRIPTION:
Formed in 1986, THE ROYAL ATLANTIC DANCE BAND is a 5 to 9-piece ensemble dedicated to performing and promoting the music of the great swing and big band era. With the popularity of swing music and with the re-emergence of swing dancing, this group is in constant demand. Outstanding arrangements of the big band masters coupled with the area's finest musicians make this band the Mid-Atlantic region's premier performing group. From Ellington to Basie, from Harold Arlen to Benny Goodman, and from Artie Shaw to Glen Miller, THE ROYAL ATLANTIC DANCE BAND delights audiences comprising every age group. On occasion, the band is fortunate to be able to showcase renowned vocalist, Ms Becky Livas. She makes every performance extra-special. This super band has a loyal, enthusiastic following whenever they perform summer concerts at the Ocean View Park gazebo in Norfolk, the Buckroe Beach stage in Hampton, or at the 24th Street stage at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. Because of this regular exposure in the public eye, THE ROYAL ATLANTIC DANCE BAND is one of the most popular, sought-after bands to book for wedding receptions, military reunions, corporate holiday balls, and New Year's Eve Galas. Because of the quality of the arrangements, the energetic response from the audience, and the out-right fun of playing with this band, the area's most talented musicians fight for the opportunity to perform with THE ROYAL ATLANTIC DANCE BAND. For an evening of good listening, good dancing, and good fun, this band will impress the most discriminating music-lover.
