Description
The Rob Stoneback Big Band is a 19-piece swinging big band that kicks butt! We've performed all over the Mid-Atlantic region, including New York, Philadelphia, Atlantic City, Baltimore--yes, even Lincoln Center.
Members of the band include alumni of the Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Harry James, Woody Herman, and Buddy Rich big bands. On the jazz stage the guys have played with Miles Davis, Sarah Vaughn, Clark Terry, Urbie Green, Bill Watrous, Wycliffe Gordon, Elvin Jones, Bud Shank, ....
We've performed for such stars as Natalie Cole, Johnny Mathis, Aretha Franklin, The Manhattan Transfer, Olivia Newton-John, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Lou Rawls, Rosemary Clooney, Frankie Avalon, Bobby Rydell, Fabian.... Now we want to play for you!
The band has four albums: Up Front (1983), Traditions (1990), Caught in the Web (1997), and Mad to the Bone (2003), featuring the legendary jazz trombonist Bill Watrous. In 2007, the band recorded with Nina Simone's daughter, who goes by the stage name Simone. The album is titled Simone on Simone.
