"Cairo on the Coast" is the work of Nicole Edge and Alexandra Mitchell, two entertainers with an extensive and diverse background in Belly Dance and Fire Dancing.
The two dancers have been performing in the southeastern US for the past 4 years, entertaining at events ranging from festivals, weddings, and gallery openings to weekly performances at restaurants and lounges.
Nicole has been practicing the art of Middle Eastern dance since 2002, and has been performing professionally since 2008. She has taken lessons and workshops from many skilled dancers, such as Leyla Katrina (Hawaii), Dina (Egypt), and Jillina (California). She is proficient in American Cabaret and Egyptian style belly dance, and performs with a range of props; veils, zills, swords, canes, (Raqs Assaya), Isis wings, fire fans, and fan veils. Her most uncommon skill is fire eating, which lends a unique twist to her Belly Dance performances.
Alexandra has been performing professionally since 2008, as well, and has learned her skills by attending many workshops from notable dancers and troupes, such as "The Indigo" & Moria Chappell of "The Belly Dance Superstars". Her main focus is Tribal Fusion dance, and American Tribal style, but she is also skilled in American Cabaret and Folkloric Belly Dance. She performs with many unique props such as fan veils, fire fans, canes, zills, fire poi, and fire hoops. Her favorite props are Voi (a cross between veil and poi), and swords.
The wide range of skills "Cairo" has to offer can energize just about any event! Nicole and Alexandra perform as a synchronized duo, as well as solo entertainers, and are capable of choreographed and improvisational dance. From brief appearances, to extended performances, this duo is capable of keeping an audience captivated. "Cairo" is also known for teaching private group dance lessons-a perfect "Ladies Night Out" for bachelorette parties and more!
