Hello and welcome to Big Star Hospitality. My name is Josh Berresford. I am the owner of Big Star Hospitality, a boutique staffing company, staffing bartenders, servers, hosts/hostesses, coat check persons, etc. for private parties, corporate happy hours, weddings, etc.
I started my hospitality business as a one man show 8 years ago. I now have expanded and have 90 freelance bartenders and servers helping to make my business extra special. As you can see by my great reviews, I will make sure your party or event is a great one. If you're looking for professional and courteous hospitality look no further.
Our service stands out because I take great pride in my business.
We are very professional. I try the best I can to be very available to my clients to help answer any questions or concerns that they may have relating to their party or event. I will help plan the drinks they would like served or I'm happy to suggest some great classic signature cocktails or not so classic. Totally up to the client. I will send a grocery list to ensure you get everything you need that is necessary to make your party a success. Whatever I can do to relieve your stress I will do my best.
I personally have over 20 years bartending and serving experience. I really love helping to make people's parties or events a success. I am not afraid to go that extra mile to help my clients and their needs. Love to see my client's guests have a great time also.
I really like working and providing great service to my clients. I am very professional but also very personable and have no problem with chatting with guests. I love to know the people are having a good time and I will go the extra mile to make sure that happens. And always with a smile on my face.
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing for servers starts at $40/hour and bartending at $60/hour. Gratuity is not included but always greatly appreciated.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I will either talk with the client on the phone or through email. Email is best because I have a very detailed questionnaire for the client to fill out. Any questions or concerns can be addressed after the questionnaire is completed.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have worked on and off for the past 20 years as bartender and server. I worked at The Beatrice Inn (then owned by Grayden Carter (Editor of Vanity Fair and also owner of The Waverly Inn. I have a very polished, high end serving background. I've waited on many VIP and celebrity guests. But I also can be very casual. It's really up to whatever the client's needs are and how they would like me to perform.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I got started in this type of work back in when I was in high school back in Beaver Falls, PA, just north of Pittsburgh. I was working part-time as a dishwasher, then I was a busboy, then I became a server. I started bartending when I was thrown into it The Ground Round, where I was working to put myself through college. They fired the bartender for being drunk and asked me if I wanted to bartend. I told them I never did it before, they said they would teach me. The rest is history!
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with many types of private and corporate clients. I bartend in many offices in Manhattan including WeBull, Salesforce, Jennair by Whirlpool, etc.
Corporate Clients include: Alice & Olivia, Blue Apron, S'Well Bottles, Creed Fragrances, Neilsen's Rating, Sales Force, Learnvest, etc., Slate, Farmer's Dog, etc.
Different events that I have worked include: birthdays, weddings, funerals (celebration of life), baby showers, birthdays, anniversaries, Bris (Jewish circumcision), graduations, etc.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make sure they are professional, hard working, and make sure they are reliable!!! I am 110% reliable. If I say I'm going to do something, I do it! And never complain! Nobody wants to hear their bartender complain!
