Description

With over 9 years of bagpiping experience, Timothy Burke has had many grand opportunities to perform at several different venues across the western United States. He is a professional grade musician, bagpipe music mentor, and former executive band leader of the James J. Coyne Memorial Pipe band. Tim has earned many awards in the Scottish community, and has established himself as one of the top pipers in Southern California.

Mr. Burke's piping career began in 2003, when he arrived at Glendora High School. Having been a musician since the age of 10, Tim immediately joined the award winning Glendora Tartan Band and Pageantry. Tim quickly became a competitive musician shortly after picking up his first set of bagpipes. In his last two years at Glendora, Tim had the honor of holding a leadership position, helping guide the band to many more prizes and good ranks. He then graduated in 2007.
After graduating high school, Tim joined the Pasadena Scots Pipe Band, in its inaugural year competing, helping them earn Champion Supreme honors over many other bands in the WUSPBA branch (Western United States Pipe Band Association) that same year! Seeking more of a musical challenge, he left Pasadena's organization in late 2007 and became a member of the James J. Coyne Memorial Pipe Band. There, he had the exciting chance to learn from one of the best in the piping community, Seumas Coyne. Tim has developed greatly as a player from the lessons taught to him by Seumas and has benefited immensely from thereon. Having been a member since, Tim has been able to climb up the ranks, having become a top corps player in the band. Following the close of the 2010 competition season, Tim had the fantastic offer of becoming the band's Pipe Major! He gratefully accepted and led the band to new heights in 2011.

As a performer, Tim has played at many occasions, such as: Weddings, Receptions, Funerals, Parties, Church Ceremonies, Graduations, Golf Tournaments, along with various other events.

Not only are you provided the option of a solo piper, you may also choose from the following: Piper/Drummer Duet, Quartet (Two Pipers/Two Drummers), or a full band!

Timothy Burke's past accomplishments include:
Participating in the 2004 and 2005 Hollywood Christmas Parade (GTB&P)
2008-2010 WUSPBA Grade 2 Band Champion (James J. Coyne Memorial Pipe Band)
Top 3 competitors at the 2004 Queen Mary Scottish Festival (Solo Piping)
Second place overall at the 2007 Queen Mary Scottish Festival (Solo Piping)
First place at the 2009 San Diego Highland Games (Solo Piping)
Third place at the 2011 Alaska Scottish Festival (Solo Piping)

Feedback

  • Timothy performed for our school's memorial assembly. He was not only punctual (having driven from Glendale to San Diego) but he was also very accommodating and wanted to make sure that his music selection and presentation satisfied our needs. -- Carolyn T, Santee, CA, 3/4/2011
  • It was an absolute pleasure to have Timothy join us. He was on time, accomodating, and professional. We also liked him - he's a really nice guy! Should we need a piper sometime in the future, Tim will be our first choice. Thanks! Debbie Carrico Holy Trinity Episcopal Church -- Debbie C, Covina, CA, 3/27/2011
  • Tim was great. Friendly and easy to talk to. His gear outfit was perfect as well as his skills playing the pipes. -- Rigo D, Temecula, CA, 4/15/2011
  • Tim was great, showed up on time in the proper attire and played awesome! Everyone at the event was impressed and pleased with Tim and his performance. Thanks again Tim! Looking forward to seeing you at our event next year! -- Charley R, Chino, CA, 10/17/2011
  • We hired Tim to help lead our parade of flags as an opening to our celebration of International Education Week. Since his performance was rather brief, there wasn’t a lot of time to evaluate talent and no need for special requests. He arrived on time, was dressed and ready to play and did a great job. Our expectations were met and we have no complaints about his performance. Our communication prior to the event could have been a little better to make sure we had the documents required by our Accounting Office to process is payment. -- Jenny D, Rancho Cucamonga, CA, 11/16/2011
  • I booked Timothy Burke to play for my wedding in April 2012. I would not hesitate to recommend him. His playing was great, and he was 100% reliable. I am a professional musician so I have high standards, and he met them easily. In addition, I am from Scotland so am very familiar with bagpipers: he can easily compare to the best of them over there! Additionally, his prices were fair. Highly recommended. -- Alastair E, La Canada Flintridge, CA, 4/8/2012
