DESCRIPTION:
Pipe Major Michel d'Avenas is a full-time, professional bagpiper available for special events throughout the greater Monterey Bay Area, including: Carmel, Pebble Beach, Big Sur, Monterey, Salinas and the surrounding counties of Santa Cruz and San Benito. He is a classically trained musician and award-winning professional piper with over 30 years performance experience and can adapt favorite songs, anthems, and hymns for the bagpipes. Michel is the Piper Major of the Monterey Bay Pipe Band and the leading bagpipe instructor in Monterey County. He has appeared in both television and magazine advertisements, newspaper articles, and was featured in a documentary, "The Healing Pole," that appeared on numerous PBS TV stations, and is often seen at sundown playing the pipes at the Inn at Spanish Bay in Pebble Beach.PM d'Avenas can arrange for additional Scottish performers, including drummers, Highland dancers, full Pipe Bands and other Celtic musicians; he is the founder of the Monterey Celtic Arts Academy and The Monterey Bay School of Piping and Drumming.
