Description
Nothing focuses attention or makes your event as memorable as the skirl of the pipes provided by a skilled, kilted piper in formal highland dress.
Whether you are planning a casual beach wedding, a formal dinner/ceremony, or a solemn funeral with full military honors, I have the appropriate attire and can assist you in selecting music that will suit the occasion.
I am also a Bagpipe Teacher - I TEACH BAGPIPES, giving Bagpipe Lessons in the Annapolis, MD area.
Hi! I am HalThePiper and I can provide a special Celtic touch by playing my BAGPIPE at your special occasion - whether or not it is one of the following:
Wedding
Military Dining-In or Dining-Out
Corporate Event , Product Launch, Fund Raiser
Sports or Seasonal Event
Anniversary, Birthday Party, Family Reunion
Funeral or Memorial Service
Some of the sample tracks on my MySpace site are my smallpipes - most of the rest feature my Great Highland Pipes (sometimes called Warpipes) playing Scotland The Brave (Cadence to Arms if you are a Dropkick Murphys fan), Highland Cathedral, and Amazing Grace. You can get pricing information, and see my complete bio at my main Website which is specified on my MySpace site.
In addition, I play the Deger Electronic Bagpipe, which can be played in a variety of keys - this is the electronic bagpipe played by Gaelic Storm's piper, and other stage performers.
I live in Annapolis, Maryland, and play as a member and occasional soloist with The Chesapeake Caledonian Pipes and Drums. As a solo performer, I have played for many Weddings and Parties, and for a Vice Admiral's retirement in the Navy Yard in Washington D.C., and a number of Military Dining Out functions.
I often play in O'Loughlin's Pub in Arnold, MD on St. Patrick's Day, and for Irish events. I have performed in Killarney House (Davidsonville), Harry Brown's (Annapolis), Fado's (Annapolis), Castle Bay (Annapolis), Galway Bay (Annapolis), Stan & Joe's (Annapolis), Middleton's Tavern (Annapolis) , McGarvey's (Annapolis), Armadillo's (Annapolis), Griffin's Grille (Arnold), The Irish Channel (Crofton), Old Bowie Town Grille, Tir Na Nog (Baltimore), and James Joyce, and Lucy's in Baltimore.
The Chesapeake Caledonian Pipes and Drums perform almost every other weekend - including Celtic Weekend at The Renaissance Festival. At the MD RenFair, I have enjoyed jamming with The Rogues at the Dragon's Lair, in addtion to playing with Off The Boat, the Wild Rovers, and The Chesapeake Caledonians. I often play with TIPSC (the Traditional Irish Pub Song Club). We perform at Killarney House in Davidsonville every third Tuesday of the month. The last three years, TIPSC entertained at The Maryland Irish Festival in November at Timonium.
This year, when available, and for fun, I will be playing at various local venues. Occasionally, I play a set with Seamus Kennedy on a Tuesday night at Harry Brown's (Annapolis).
I am working together with several keyboard musicians to put together a number of sets of music with the pipes playing with piano, keyboard, and/or organ, which we will offer to Brides as another option for ceremony music. The music produced by these two instruments playing in concert can be stunningly beautiful, so this is a very exciting development!
If you go to You Tube and search for: Hal The Piper
(make sure to put the spaces in there in order to get both videos to show up at the top), you'll get a video of me warming up before a Wedding Ceremony at Chase Court in Baltimore, and a video of me playing at The Whiskey in Annapolis (accompanied by a wonderful vocalist name Brittany for the first song).

Feedback
- Thank you for performing at our wedding!! -- Katherine L, Bethesda, MD, 7/4/2009
- This performance was requested for a Father's Day gift for my 86 yr old Dad. He came through for me even though it was a last minute request. The performance was such a hit that other residents of my Dad's retirement home are still talking about it days later. Thanks again for a great experience. -- Michael C, Dover, DE, 6/21/2009
- Hal the Piper did a wonderful job at my father's funeral. My father's funeral was at Arlington National Cemetary - and all he needed was the place and time, and he was there waiting at the appropriate location at the graveside ceremony. The music was beautiful and made the funeral complete. He also played at the reception at the Officers Club, and performed beautifully. Thank you! -- Sarah D, Arlington, VA, 2/27/2009
