Bill Sloan

Both my Mother and Father came from Scotland, Mother from Kilbirnie and Father from Glasgow. I've been playing the bagpipes since 1956. I was Pipe Major of the Ft. Lauderdale Highlanders for 17 years. I moved to Jacksonville in 1991 and became Pipe Major of the Jacksonville Pipe Band.

I perform for the Scottish Highland Games, weddings, funerals and memorial services, Navy dine outs, parades, fund raisers, corporate functions, family and holiday celebrations, retirement parties, schools and churches.

I am the duty piper for the Jacksonville Police Department honor guard as well as being the official bagpiper for the PGA TOUR World Golf Village.

• Mr. Sloan was very perfessional and pleasant to work with. He was always available for communication before the wedding. He offered assistance in guiding us to listen to selections for the wedding. He arrived as promised and performed as he said. What more can anyone ask. His presence made the wedding complete in that the Bride's father was attired in his kilt as well as his brothers and nephews. A perfect touch to a beautiful wedding. • Bill Sloan made our wedding reception magical. When we (the bride and groom) arrived at the reception, he announced our presence by playing "Scotland the Brave." It was incredible. As the reception progressed, he played a delightful mixture of traditional Scottish tunes and paused several times, extending the length of play time while offering time for guests to enjoy conversations.
