Genesis Ian and the NRG band is an original act based in Los Angeles, California.Embracing the classic sounds of the Police, Stevie Wonder, Bob Marley, Hendrix, Prince with a hip-hop soul swag you got the sound of Genesis Ian. Fusing the elements of Soul, Pop, and Punk, Genesis Ian and the NRG band is versatile enough to satisfy a universal crowd of all ages. With a repetoire of 2-3 sets of live original music with some covers or all covers upon request with a soul/reggea flavored acoustic show, playing many venues, festivals, and private events, Genesis Ian has more than enough experience to rock any crowd all night long.Genesis Ian, just completed his 2nd street promo album; "Smoke 'n Mirrors" on Double Down records and also has another album release titled "All My Life" on Paperrock Records ready to be debuted by late summer of 2008 on i-Tunes, Rahpsody, and Genesis still performs for his fanbase in Los Angeles, Philadelphia PA, and Santa Barbara. He has played and worked with members of The Roots, Wilby Fletcher from Roy Ayers, Chuck Treese of Fishbone, Dexter Kuhnts who played with George Benson, and Miles Davis, Ivis of The Wailers, and Randy Iman worked for George Clinton.Now with the NRG band (Darnell Jones (Bassist/Composer), Darren Blackman (Drummer) from Higher Lion, and with his fellow artist camp,Candy and Krystle on lead and back vocals, 2 time Apollo winners; Roswell (JP Espejo, Jeff Obstaculo, Noel Espejo, the NRG band is now ready to support and promote Genesis's solo act doing college radio, shows, and regional tours in the western part of the country to gain more following in the next year. Aside from being a performer / multi-instrumentalist / artist, Genesis is also a working music producer and produces with J.Ranes (Shockey Kong), and Kairi Cushni (Mr.Kushington) called the 'Lab Ratz' also based in Los Angeles.Creating real hot Hip-Hop beats from grimey beats, to soul flavored beats, rock / punk, to pop genre, etc...Lab Ratz is now to be compared musically with the major production groups / producers such as the 'Neptunes', 'Just Blaze', 'Organize Noize' and many more.In addition, Lab Ratz has major works with 'The Next', a Hip-Hop series airing on Showtime, Spliff Star of Flip Mode Squad (Busta Rhymes camp),Busta Rhymes,Coolie High, Nate Dogg, Scosis and Phats from the OutLaws camp (Tupac's camp), Kushington worked for 50 cent's debut album, now pitching songs for Busta Rhymes, Shockey Kong worked for Common, Kanyey West, Talib Quali, to name a few and at the same time Genesis has worked if not pitched songs for Seal, Eve, Ty James, Christina Milian, Beyonce, etc...We have worked very hard for this so go buy our records with Spliff Star and Black Sox (Bozak) now available on i-Tunes, Rahpsody, and Amazon.com!
