Over the last two years, GigMasters has provided entertainment for over 8,000 kids’ parties. We happen to really love big parties for little guests. And it’s obvious that you do too – despite issues with the economy, the average amount spent on children’s party entertainment hasn’t changed over the past few years. It’s great to know that parents are still focused on creating amazing events for their children.

It also made us curious about what other interesting trends we could find in the world of kids’ parties. Let us share with you the top 10 most fascinating trends we found:

  • 62% of parents in the Northeast plan their child’s party at a venue (such as an arcade, play-space, bowling alley, etc.) vs. 20.8% of parents in the West.
  • Party City is the most popular retailer for purchasing kids’ party supplies.
  • 98% of parents ask other parents to stay with their child when they attend a 1-3 year olds birthday party. But, did you know that 85% of parents stay when their child is attending a party for a 7-10 year old?
  • Over the past two years, more costumed characters have been hired in California than all other states combined.
  • The average dollar amount spent on Mitzvah entertainment has increased 29% from 2010 to 2011. DJs, caricaturists and live bands are the most popular form of bar and bat mitzvah entertainment.
  • The average dollar amount spent on Sweet Sixteen & Quinceanera entertainment has increased from $386 in 2010 to $423 in 2011
  • Party planning clients reported that approximately 81% of kids’ parties are themed. Princesses, Superheroes and the Circus were some of the top party themes for children ages 1-6 years old.
  • Across the United States, pizza was reported to be the most popular food item served at kids’ parties.

GigMasters’ report comes from an analysis of over 8,000 children’s parties booked in 2010 and 2011 along with a recent survey of clients who used GigMasters to book children’s party entertainment.
