Star Wars continues to be one of the best known movie franchises in the world, and remains wildly popular among a wide range of generations. It is one of those movie installments that parents and kids can enjoy together and it seems to be a rite of passage for little boys to go through a Star Wars “phase". Cross generational appeal, an epic storyline and fascinating characters has also made Star Wars a fun, common choice for kids’ parties.

With Star Wars being such a popular theme for kids’ parties, there is a wealth of party planning inspiration on the internet that can help you make sure “the force” is with your party. We have rounded up a few extraordinary Star Wars parties that we think have galactic appeal. Our first featured Star Wars party is an impressive event from Sweet Craft Cakes. This interactive party consisted of kids going through 6 training missions in order to be considered a Jedi in a final ceremony. The party post includes amazing step by step instructions on how to create each mission for your party groups.

In this galaxy, Jedi training included completing the following missions: -Make your own R2 unit (an awesome arts and crafts project) -Uniform (personalized and homemade from a painter’s drop cloth) -Light Saber Training (an instructional activity with pool noodle light sabers) -Endurance (an obstacle course to get past storm troopers) -Battle the Death Star (an epic encounter with an evil death star piñata) -Graduation (a ceremony honoring those that have achieved the true title of Jedi)

At graduation, all brave Jedi’s received a medal of honor to commemorate the occasion. Movie posters and creative printables along with Star Wars themed delicious desserts set the stage as décor for this out of this world theme. Snacks, desserts and drinks all had fun Star Wars names like “Wookie Cookies,” “Yoda Soda,” and “Space Cakes.” Adorable specialty cupcakes with all the most popular Star Wars characters and a fabulous cake made an impressive and yummy dessert display.

If you are looking for slightly different Star Wars party idea then take a look at this Lego Star Wars party from I’m Topsy Turvy. If your child is a lover of all things Lego and Star Wars then this is the perfect choice for your kid’s next birthday event! This party was held in a local park where kids got to battle with homemade light sabers and go up against a death star piñata. Homemade Lego Star Wars tattoos were given out to all attending Jedis. If you are not artistically inclined, you could always hire a temporary tattoo artist to help kids show off their favorite Star Wars character.

Cleverly named snacks including “Padme Popcorn,” “Boba Fett Bounty” (chocolate gold coins), and “Edible Ewoks” (sour patch kids) were on display for feasting fun. There was also an adorable beverage creation of C-3PO H20 that was created with mini water bottles that were spray painted gold and finished with custom C-3PO labels. The most impressive part of this party was the custom Lego cake of the Millennium Falcon used as a centerpiece for the table display. So fantastic and original!

With either of these parties you may want to consider adding entertainment.  Perhaps you could book a costumed character to dress as Darth Vader or C-3PO.  Everyone also loves Chewbacca, (as proof of this theory our most popular blog post to-date remains an entry about Chewbacca Impersonators that was actually written as an April Fools joke!).  Or, you may want to hire a face painter to re-create some of the impressive Star Wars character and creature makeup for the kids. No matter what you choose, including exciting entertainment will just make your event even more out of this world! We would like to thank Sweet Craft Cakes and I’m Topsy Turvy for putting together such unique and fabulous Star Wars parties. They didn’t just share their great ideas; they explained how to re-create these incredible events for our own members of the Rebel Alliance. That is true party inspiration!
