The end of August usually means that most families are getting ready for back to school time. Shopping for school supplies, new clothes and arranging carpool plans are likely to be at the top of every parent’s list. While you are preparing for another academic year, it’s likely that your kids are hoping that summer will never end. So, why not try and get the kids excited for the school year by throwing a back to school party!

Getting the kids together with their neighborhood friends and school pals will help them focus on reconnecting with all their favorite buddies. Plan on weaving in some fun school related crafts that will keep the kids entertained and excited. When you send out your invites, you should ask parents to send their children with a few standard school supplies: a notebook, pencil case/pencil bag and pencils.

Before the party, pick up some decorative supplies for craft projects. A few must-haves for your list include: glue, tape, safety scissors, glitter, markers, puff paint, foam, pipe cleaners, construction paper, etc. You can use the supplies to create a different station for each craft project. The first station could be a notebook decorating area - each child can personalize their own notebook. The next station can be a spot for the kids to decorate their own pencil box or pencil bag. They can add their name, favorite animals, or just fun designs that they create. For the third station, allow guests to create their own foam pencil toppers so they will be all set with custom writing utensils on their first day.

Planning these fun crafts is a great way to incorporate a school theme into a fun party. Kids will love adding their own artwork to their school supplies, and showing off their handiwork to their friends. Their creations will also make perfect party favors for them to bring home!

Now that you have crafting plans all set for the party, how about a little entertainment? Renting a bounce house is a great idea for a back to school party. The weather should still be nice enough for the kids to enjoy the outdoors, and we all know that bounce houses rank pretty high on any child’s fun meter. If you are thinking of making the party mostly an indoor affair, you can’t go wrong with hiring a balloon twister, face painter or magician to entertain the kiddies!
