Bonita Ferus  Folk Band from Tijeras, NM

Bonita Ferus got her start singing in the clubs of her Boston hometown, then moved to Seattle where she sang rock, R&B, torch, jazz, and blues with several prominent bands. Bonita has been singing professionally for 30 years, also teaches voice locally. She sings with a depth of comprehension, artistry, and passion that few singers can even approach. Her eclectic repertoire of jazz, R&B, blues, folk, standards, funk, gospel and pop has confused record labels and stores have questioned where to place her music... but Bonita continues to sing songs that move her and allow her to express her feelings. She has been described as “the greatest torch singer on the planet” by the Seattle Weekly. She carries the torch with Bonita and the Bluefins, singing an eclectic repertoire of acoustic jazz, R&B, blues, folk, standards, gospel and pop. Ric Dorin is a fingerstyle guitar player from Redwood City, California. He plays acoustic and electric guitar with Bonita. Christopher Carlson was trained in classical violin in a small agricultural town in Northern Utah as a religious minority, just south of where Napoleon Dynamite was filmed. He has competed in the Santa Fe Bluegrass and Folk Festival, and has won several massive 1st Place belt buckles for both fiddle and banjo, none of which can be worn without sitting down and ending up with a redneck C-section mark at day's end. Bob Bruen has been playing and teaching the mandolin for over 40 years. Originally from San Francisco, Bob has played and recorded with such notables as David Grisman, Mike Marshall, and Vassar Clemens. Since moving to Santa Fe 12 years ago, he has worked with Rex Warren, Bill and Bonnie Hearne, The Country Blues Revue, Lisa Carman Trio, Los Radiators, and the Desert Dogs.
