Jillian Risigari-Gai completed a Bachelor of Music Degree in Performance- Harp at California State University- Long Beach and has started on a MFA Harp Performance at California Institute of the Arts. Jillian started harp at age three and has studied with many harpists such as Paul Baker, Michael Rado (San Francisco Ballet), Karen Vaughn (Principal of LSO, England), Stella Castellucci (Famous Jazz Harpist), April Aoki. At CSULB, Jillian studied with world renowned harpist Marcia Dickstein (Studio harpist- Films, LBSO, Debussy Trio), and currently with Susan Allen (CALARTS, known for her artistry in free improvisation and premiering compositions for harp). Jillian taught harp at the Saturday Conservatory of Music in Pasadena for 6 years, taught at the European School of Music in San Pedro, CA . Jillian is currently teaching piano at West Creek Academy through CALARTS Community Arts Partnership program and also has a Private Harp Studio at her home in South Pasadena, CA, giving Private Harp Lessons. She currently is Principal harpist of The Orchestra Unleashed ( , Long Beach Ballet Company, West Coast Symphony, New Valley Symphony, and Alternate Harpist of Young Musicians Foundation's Debut Orchestra. She has also played for Diane Schuur, The Irish Tenors, Saigon Broadcasting Television Network, Los Angeles Percussion Quartet, Musical Theatre West, NAACP Image Awards Celebration Week, Playboy Jazz Festival, LACMA Live at The Bing, Orange County Catholic Chorale and performed for residents of Rustington, England raising money for homeless shelters and has performed works in France. Jillian has also toured in France, England, and in the United States- Reno, Seattle, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Sacramento, and Santa Barbara sharing her music with others. When Jillian was at CSULB, she was involved in various string chamber groups, Collegium Musicum (Early Music Ensemble), Wind Symphony, Symphony Orchestra, Vocal Jazz Combo's, Various Choirs, and The New Music Ensemble. Currently in her studies at CALARTS, she is cultivating her artistry through premiering compositions, arranging, free improvisation, jazz, classical, and composing.
She plays a multitude of different venues such as recitals, tea's, weddings, commercials, corporate events, festivals, church services, parties, jazz groups, pubs, orchestral, musical theatre, ballet, opera, film scores, and memorial services (to name a few).
