Big African Sound plays African popular music, heavily influenced by music from Cote D'ivoire and soukous music from The Congo. Lead singer and composer Soro Solo was born into a griot family in the Senufo culture of Cote D'Ivoire (Ivory Coast). Lead guitarist Huit Kilos is one of the handful of Congolese studio musicians who has given shape to the highly distinctive Soukous sound. Styles played are traditional African and various sub genres of african pop music including Coupe Decale, Makosa, Soukous, etc. The main band has 7 members, drummer, bass, 2 guitars, & 3 singers. For larger events we can bring in more percussionists, horns, background singers, and dancers.
