Hello there! Thanks for visiting my page! Here's a bit about me and how I can help you with your special event:
I have had the privilege of providing music for MANY, MANY wineries, wine bars, cocktail parties, weddings, dinners, restaurants, concerts, and other public and private events in my career. I have been especially busy performing since moving to the Pacific NW 4 years ago. I have played for events all throughout this region from Seattle to Eastern Washington, the Oregon coast to the Columbia Gorge, Portland, the Mt. Rainer area, Black Butte Ranch, the Tiffany Center, Cave B Inn, Skamania Lodge, and many other locales.
My playing style is largely influenced by my classical guitar and jazz studies, however, as you can see from my song list I play MUCH more than that. I also incorporate pop tunes, Spanish, Brazilian, blues, funk, original, and other styles into my performances as well. If you have specific songs/pieces you would like incorporated into your event please let me know. I would be more than happy to learn them or to tailor the playlist to meet your wishes.
At my performances you can expect to hear nylon and steel string acoustic guitars, electric guitar, and a loop pedal. Using a loop pedal allows me to create the sonic illusion of a full band which helps keep the musical airwaves fresh and interesting. People have said that they thought I "was playing with a CD/recording" or that "it sounded like a band." In addition to playing solo instrumental music I am also often hired to sing at weddings or to play as a jazz duo/trio. Just let me know what type of services (classical guitar, some vocals, all instrumental, mostly acoustic guitar, etc.) you would like from me and I will gladly prepare the music you request.

This includes brides/grooms, restaurant owners, private party hosts, and shop owners. I make a diligent effort to respond to all emails and phone calls in a 24 hour period, to be as clear with communication as possible, and seek to fulfill the wishes of whomever I am serving. I should also mention that I really enjoy what I do. It has been my dream to be a professional guitarist since I was 12 years old. I feel very fortunate to be able to do what I love for a living.

Wedding Ceremony

"John Wayland played at my wedding and was absolutely astounding. I had envisioned a romantic solo guitar sound playing in the background. I requested a few songs but I left the rest up to him.
He played throughout my entire ceremony and his selections were perfect. John did a beautiful job of capturing the romantic ceremony I envisioned. I am beyond happy with his performance.
I recommend him highly. He's a wonderful performer but also diligent in his emails. He responds quickly and clearly. It is also apparent in his email responses that he has thoroughly read and understood yours.

"I was impressed with Mr. Harr from my first correspondance with him through the last song he played our wedding night. Mr. Harr was easy to talk to and he was very prompt returning calls and emails. He went above and beyond by learning new songs just because we requested them, and he had been practicing all the songs that would be played for our ceremony to make sure they sounded beautiful. When Mr. Harr started playing the wedding processional song, I got chills because it sounded so hauntingly lovely. "John was a delight to work with. He responded in a timely manner and followed through on everything we asked and he promised.
He arrived well before the party, was completely set up and began on time. His music raised the level of the party by several notches. Many of the guests commented that his music was wonderful and added so much to the ambiance of the evening. We had a steady rain, and even though we held the party outside under a large canopy John was a trooper, never missing a beat. I would highly recommend him to anyone wanting a lovely party.

"Talented, professional, accomodating! He handled the music list beautifully on the day of the wedding with no rehearsal because we were having a destination wedding in WA. He told us in advance he would play any requested special songs but in the end we didn't come up with one in all the frenzy. His music was so beautiful and special, in the end we almost gave no parameters but after hearing his music on his site we were so confident it would be perfect. His timing was impeccable and I want to add he played in the forest, with no amp, holding an umbrella in his shirt pocket in the cold--very beautifully and professionally. Our guests raved.
