This person will work closely with the Web Designer to churn out feature-rich front-end enhancements to the company website and learn more about and utilize the latest web technologies, all while working for a young and fast-moving company. What you'll do
You will work directly with the Web Designer and the Tech Department to produce lightweight and semantic front-end markup. You will ensure web content is accessible, standards-compliant, SEO friendly and cross-browser compatible. You will harness the power of the ASP.NET framework, build new site content on top of Master pages and user controls. You will help us further integrate the GigMasters experience with Facebook and Twitter and play a key role in our upcoming mobile endeavors. You will work on your fair share of cool projects and become a better developer in the process.
What you bring to the table
- (X)HTML— your markup is all about the content and nothing else
- CSS — you can float, you can clear, you can position absolutely
- JavaScript — you can find your way around the DOM and know a thing or two about AJAX
- jQuery — you're comfortable using this library and its plugins
- Object Oriented Programming — you've had exposure to one or more of the following (.NET, PHP, Rails, Python)
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent) required
- Fluency in English is an absolute must
Nice to haves
- Passionate about HTML5, CSS3 and Mobile Development
- Knowledgeable in User Interface Design
- Familiarity with Git or SVN
- Experience with Facebook API and Twitter API
- Web Optimizationtechniques, including the use of YSlow and Firebug

What you'll do
You will work closely with the other developers, harnessing the power of the ASP.NET framework to build new site features and improve existing functionality. You will support Customer Service, Marketing, and Sales with technical endeavors. You'll be fully immersed in all aspects of Web development — you'll eat, sleep and breathe the inner workings of a fast-paced, high-traffic site. You will also play a key role in our upcoming mobile endeavors. You will work on your fair share of cool projects and become a better developer in the process.
What you bring to the table
- Experience with an object oriented programming language such as ASP.NET, Java, PHP, or Python
- Knowledge of ASP.NET -or- a strong commitment to do whatever it takes to come up to speed very quickly
- Experience with at least one MVC framework (ASP.NET MVC, Django, Ruby on Rails, Pylons, etc.) a plus
- Understanding of software design patterns
- Exposure to SQL and a good understanding of database design principles
- Proficiency in CSS & JavaScript a major plus
- Familiarity with Git or SVN preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent) required
