Who would think to look towards Southern California for one of the hottest Cajun/Zydeco bands in the nation.That's where you'll find Bennie and the Swamp Gators.Bennie Gibbs (vocals and guitars) and the band have been together since 1994.People that hear the Swamp Gator's infectious music find it hard to stay in their seats, and can usually be found on their feet grooving to the Zydeco beat.
The band has played at a variety of events and locations.They are one of the regular bands to appear at the Sunday night Cajun & Zydeco nights at the Alligator Lounge in Southern California. They have appeared for many private functions at venues such as the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, and the Proud Bird restaurant near the Los Angeles International Airport.In May 1995, the band opened for the Simi Valley Cajun & Creole Festival. In June 1996, they played at the Long Beach Cajun & Zydeco Festival.In May 1997, they could be found doing the Simi Valley Cajun & Creole Festival once again. They just got done playing a concert for MARDI GRAS 2000 at the U S GRANT HOTEL in the pervillian room, in SAN DIEGO, played at the Twin Palms Resteruant in Pasadena (Fat Tuesday) 2001, performed at the Crawdad Festival in Isleton, Ca (2002) their were about 175,000 people in attendance for that Fathers day weekend, played at the African Market Cultral event (2002), quite a few private parties and weddings, and performed at the Los Angeles Staple Center (Home of the LA Lakers & Clippers) 2003 for Mardi Gras night (Fat Monday), also (Fat Tuesday) 2003 at the Twin Palms Resteraunt again. The Swampgators performed at the 2004 Fremont Festival in Las Vegas.

• Bennie and his Swamp Gators surpassed my wildest dreams for a fun band that would entertain my guest. His son, the drummer, came out with his girlfriend and taught Zydeco dancing which thrilled me and my guest. His daughter, on the washboard, came onto the dance floor and shared the washboard with all our guest. My emails are flooded with my guest telling me they were the most fun and exciting band they have ever heard. I recommend them VERY HIGHLY. I am a Louisiana Woman living in California who wanted to celebrate my 60th birthday Southern Style. Bennie and the SwampGators gave me an evening I will never forget.
